the article doesn't say that Natasha is the new face of the Six tho - but i suppose it goes without saying - probably won't be long before she goes on maternity leave aswell !
Give hubby an award for services to broadcasting when that happens !
Let's hope if it was a girl, she didn't turn out like Mum !

Westy you've just given me so many images of the cot feeding time...."Now what do you say?" Shudders to think. Although I seriously doubt Natasha will have children, it would stand in the way of her career.
I loved the way Anna Ford simply brushed off everyone else in one fowl swop "It's probably the best bulletin". Classic!
Does this mean Kerplunk is staying on the Six? And I had no idea the One O'Clock News is 20 years old, but then again looking back isn't this the 20th anniversary of BBC Daytime Television?

Yup, the One O'Clock News first aired on Monday 27th October 1986 and it's first presenter was Martyn Lewis, who was then poached from ITN in a record breaking deal (for that time) of £100,000, though he was quickly promoted to the Six and Nine whenever they needed him IIRC.
The BBC has always had a Daytime News bulletin, during the 1970's they were nothing more than News summaries read out by Newsreaders of the time such as Richard Baker. Then in about 1981 a full half hour News came with the
News After Noon
which would air at 12.30pm, apparently 1.00pm when there was no
Pebble Mill At One
, this was also the time when ITV had
News At One
, but that was moved in July 1987 and renamed
News At 12:30
, probably because more people were watching the BBC one would guess.
Anyway back on topic.....shame Darren Jordan didn't get it, I certainately prefer him to Anna. But good to see Sophie get it, though is this the first National gig she's done on her own?

That's a point I totally forgot about Darren Jordan, he's been subbing on the show but apparently he isn't good enough to be offered the full-time gig!?! Stupid!!!
SIAN AND BILL FOR BREAKFAST!! (AND BRING BACK JULES BOTFIELD IN THE STUDIO)
Sophie has presented her own bulletins. She has even presented the One o'clock news on her own. However i will always remember Sophie doing the boxing day 2004 bulletins, when news of the Tsunami broke.
Isnt this a demotion for her, rather than a premotion.... as Keplunky has nicked her spot.
No. This gives her, her own bulletin, which she will have a regular core audience. I doubt her pay would be affected by the move. She also gets home earlier to spend more time with her children. So she now has the best of both world, finishing i would imagine at about 3.00, instead of the 8/9 o'clock she would have been when doing the 6.

True. I'm glad she is getting the one, except I dont usualy watch the one!
It probably will mean that Natasha Kaplinsky will remain on the Six O'clock News. Alas.
Unless they go for a real outsider, such as Emily Maitlis? Unlikely though.
The other possibility would be Sian Williams going to the Six permanently, and then Jane Hill being the floating cover.
Congratulations to Sophie Raworth on her promotion. However, as I am kinda "old school", I have to admit to having a soft spot for Anna Ford, and see her as the last of the old original, sturdy, broadcast team of the BBC News of old (Lawley, Humphrys, Buerk, Sissons, Ford........Stuart.....)
