IIRC someone on here called that 'The Elstree Triangle', don't know why though.

I've never heard that phrase, but I'll have a game stab that it might be where the director starts on a 2-shot, Presenter A starts the link, Presenter B picks up (still on the 2-shot) then Presenter B finishes the link on a single . Points West used to do this a lot during the corporate 'cream' era (they might even still do it!). I believe it was something that was suggested to a number of regions by some consultant or other...

actually the elstree triangle refers to the silent presenter's head movements whilst the other presenter is talking:

Stare at other presenter - stare at notes/computer - stare directly into camera - return to 1

Yep, see my original post.

Why Elstree though, it's not a Newsroom Southeast thing is it?

The Elstree triangle refers to Newsroom SouthEast in the days of double-heading with links done on two-shots. As others have mentioned - the Elstree triangle is what the non-speaking presenter does :

1. Look to camera
2. Look to co-presenter
3. Look to scripts in front of them
Repeat...

If done properly it can look quite natural (Gwenan for example). If done badly it looked awful (Tim)

ANYWAY

Back to the thread............

The single headed Six o'clock News with George Allaghia!!

Nobody's preferred choice it seems.

All over the country, local continuity announcers are recording their new six o;clock announcements.

And the spotlight falls on George from tomorrow,

Is Sian the only newsreader doing full 5 days - 4 on breakfast and 1 on 6?

She's the only main BBC One newsreader, but Simon McCoy, Jane Hill and Matthew Amroliwala on News 24 often work 5 days a week, as do Mishal Husain (4 days on World, plus the Sunday Weekend Bulletin when she does it) and Jon Sopel (4 on News 24 and the Politics Show) .

Yes, a mind AND a mine of information..............

I would still like to see Manisha Tank being given a role on the Six.

Has there been a change of plan completely, or are him and Sian just carrying on together for a while longer?

To be honest, I think it could be either! They probably hadn't worked out what format the show should take before announcing George's news, which could mean they've found it doesnt work or still need to.

Also, wasn't George away most of last week in Singapore? This would suggest that he wouldn't have had time to go through the program and rehearse it, so they've probably got to do that this week.

Probably just means that George will be on location somewhere (Pakistan, USA, Singapore, somewhere), so it means another anchor needs to be in the studio.

Who presented Breakfast this morning? Was it Sian?

Perhaps Nicky S simply means it may be someone other than George presenting solo tonight?
