Just to mention Sky's local news service pilot in the North East has closed down. Hopefully all staff can find work elsewhere and I'm sure some will be looking for positions with the local TV operator when that launches in 2014.

Hopefully so, though again this is news which brings into the question yet again about how viable these local TV operations will be.

Less than channelwiki.

Depends on the set up methinks, so far the signs aren't too encouraging though it must be said... It also depends on whether the channels content is unique enough from the stale offerings of the BBC and ITV.

Sorry to hear the Sky Tyne and Wear staff will lose their jobs, though admit I've never seen any of their content.

I had absolutely no idea this existed, but good on them for trying.

Although they will have the advantage of being on telly and not just a website

I'd imagine that, being a pilot, the staff were on short-term contracts anyway - but it's a shame to see it's not continuing.

I thought it was quite a popular source of regional news, so am surprised if it's not expanding or at least not staying.
