Someone told me that Sky Sports News is the most watched "News" channel in Europe.

Anyone know if that's true - and if so, how many viewers are watching??

I would highly doubt that.

Since Sky Sports News is encrypted on Satellite. In the UK, maybe. But definetely not Europe.

I would tend to believe that - I think Mr 123 has inside information Wink

Don't a lot of bars/pubs/etc on the continent, in tourist areas tend to have a Sky subscription and "British digibox" or whatever? From reading Digital Spy over the years, I'm under the impression that a lot of people just register the box to their address in the UK, and then take it out to use on mainland Europe.

Quite how ratings gathering would work in this legal grey area, though, I don't know.

Yes very, a bit annoyed Sky Sports aren't showing the game, but SSN's coverage was good, even good enough to drop the whole screen bar the SSN DOG and 'Live' aston, considering the fact people would be watching SSN to check the scores on games playing.

I'm surprised Bobby Charlton didn't break down, he was looking really nervous and sad before he spoke.

But still there are way, way less viewers capable of watching Sky Sports News than there are here. Last I heard, apparently EuroNews is the most watched.

Just found the article on Google "Most watched News Channel Europe"

http://www.ebu.ch/CMSimages/en/online_14_euronews_tcm6-4060.pdf

"EuroNews is now the most watched. pan-European news channel in. Europe. On cable
and satellite. EuroNews is significantly ahead of. the other pan-European ..."

That would make sense as it's virtually available on every satellite in Europe and FTA, whilst SSN is only on Astra 2 and encrypted.

Bear in mind Soccer Special and Soccer Saturday are also shown on SS1 so it has twice as much exposure on sport-subscribed Dsat customers/

At least SoccerAM's All Sports Show is now on Sky3

That press release is more than two years old.

Freeview problem this afternoon - Studio in 4:3 but 4:3 adverts being played out in stretchy 16:9 widescreen.

Is SSN in widescreen?

They are in 4:3 - however the ads are embedded this afternoon in Soccer Saturday.

We'll need to wait till between 5pm and 6pm to see whether the problem repeats.

A quick question about something that i've noticed recently on SSN; why does the DOG remain static on 'Sky Sports News' from midnight and through the early hours of each morning?
