in the centre of the raised platform near the videowall in the sky news room, there is a small red box near the glass, it seems to be fixed to the floor - does anybody know what this is ?

It's a foldback speaker - so the presenters can hear themselves over the newsroom noise when they're up on the platform

Can't help thinking Sky ought to pay for one of those for the viewers as well.

Does anyone else get annoyed by all the background noise when they present from in front of the wall?

I love the sound of the Newsroom in the background. Creates a sense of urgency about the news.

Odd, I thought that the area they're in is just full of producers?

I don't know what they're doing, specifically, Sput, they just do it too loudly for my personal taste.

I liked it when the News 24 weather was done in the newsroom with lots of noise. It gave a real sense of urgency to the weather!

Oh I certainly agree. It gives a feeling of action and excitement which fits in perfectly Sky News style.
