The BBC and ITN can get the same clean pictures - they just can't stick a US broadcaster straight on air.

ITV NC have done it before with MSNBC.

Sept 11th was when i think N24, ITV and Sky all used pictures direct from some US broadcasters, and during the electricity problems on News 24, i think, they broadcast images from a ABC channel.

Yes, ABC seems to have been the main provider of footage that afternoon - their idents and reporters were featured on most broadcasters - being streamd live or delayed.

On 11/9/01 all agreements between the US broadcasters were abandoned and everyone used any pictures that were avaliable at the time. The same is probably ture for the power outages

Using footage of the events is fraught with complications - not only is there the taste issue (all broadcasters are very wary of showing the planes hitting and certain other distressing shots), but everything needed to be identified and traced back to the original rights owners. The BBC for example can't reuse anything that originated from NBC or CNN as they don't have agreements for shared footage. The same with ITN and ABC

I really have a problem with Sky News using Fox News reports. Fox is one of the worst channels I've ever seen.

Perfectly suitable for Sky News then! Rolling Eyes

If Sky News is one of the worst channels you've ever seen, then why does it keep winning award after award after award - and BBC News 24 still continues to dither, fluff and struggle?
