What BBCWorld said.

Martins mocks are 3 weeks out of date.

They reflect the previous design that was universally hated. Discreet boxes with white borders are ugly.

The new gfx straps have a lot of white with blue, very little red with a graduated fade in the 16:9 areas

I'm sure I mentioned I believe the graphics I saw were from September, and am glad sky agree they were bad... Very Happy

For some reason all I can imagine on Sky News are graphics similar to the 'new' Sky Sports ones - that would be a very good thing indeed.

Disagree. A lot of people - including me - on the previous pages said that Martin's mock looked good, but wouldn't be attention grabbing enough.

Urghhhh! Graduated fading is so old hat now! Look at the mess which is five news now.

I agree, I can imagine those blue boxes looking quite nice with a bit of classy animation, maybe a glass effect or the like.

But of course, not having seen anything for real, I'll trust the experts and wait for Monday! I have to say I do like that neon globe thing in the picture.

From Sky News Press Office
Sky News has signed up former Labour MP Oona King and Michael Howard’s former Political Secretary Rachel Whetstone as contributors to The Sky Report with Julie Etchingham - Julie’s new weeknight news programme which will air from 7-8pm from Monday, 24 October.

King and Whetstone will appear most Friday evenings to review the week’s news and culture, as well reporting on special projects for the programme.

It is the first step for both former politicos into the world of TV news and ends speculation about approaches they’ve both received from ITV and the BBC to appear on similar programmes.

Rachel Whetstone has just stepped down as Michael Howard's Political Secretary, having worked with him on and off since serving as Special Advisor when Howard was Home Secretary. In between her commitments to the Conservative Party, she has worked in the private sector for Carlton, T-Mobile and Portland PR.

Oona King has spent most of her adult life in politics – first as a student of political science in York and in Berkley, California; then as a researcher for Glenys Kinnock and for the GMB. Oona was elected as MP for Bethnal Green & Bow in 1997. In May 2005 she was ousted by George Galloway in one of the most vicious election battles in living memory.

Nick Pollard, Head of Sky News, says, “I am delighted that two such politically astute individuals have decided to join Sky News at a moment when we are making significant changes to the way 24-hour news is covered. They will provide viewers of our flagship 7pm show with thought-provoking political insight.”

Is the Sky News website going to get a major new look as well or just a tweaking by putting the new graphics/logos here and there. It seriously does a facelift.

I've heard talk about a "Sky News Online" logo so wether that means a new site I dont know...

Is it a rectangular strap with faded edges, or a five news style strap?

I can only hope it has no resemblence to Five News graphics. I'm confident that they will look good, after all they have spent millions on this relaunch and I'm sure they won't be let down by sub-standard graphics.

From that small image of James Rubin in the new studio, I think it will look very good. (I like the 'neon globe' backdrop and the new logo has grown on me too, far quicker than the current one did back in 2001)

I don't know if it's been mentioned that the 7:00 Sky News Ireland is moving to 6:30. It makes sense to replace Sportsline rather than half of The Sky Report.

That does make more sense, I was wondering about that.

Any news on Sky News Active yet? Should we assume from the lack of publicity (it's something they usually shout about a lot) that it's merely a cosmetic change?
