Harshy, the image above I made (with the studio backing) is a re-creation of the graphics based on stuff I have seen...

If they turn out to be quite accurate then I am not bowled over, but happy they have gone for a simple and clutter-free look, simplicity is beauty in my mind.

I know its a small picture, but I dont like that kind of globe grid backdrop. The desk looks glassy, it looks a tiny bit like the desk the BBC used for their Election 2005 show

I suspect that newswall backing is just for James Rubin's show. The main backing image will be related to the ident, I also think there is a big ben one as well, I believe it is for PMQs but dont quote me on that.

If you want an Idea of the ident backing think back to my mock as it was based on some info I have heard...

I hope thats the case, that backdrop behind Rubin looks like the neon lights on the wall of a club I went too in the Thames Valley somewhere.
Bit surprised that they realesed an image of James on the set, I would of thought that a picture of Eamon would of been of more intrest.

To be fair, I expect that when it all comes together on-screen it will look pretty smart.

The desk is nice - a pretty classy affair, all told, and the newswall really is spectacular. But there seems to be a lot of clutter and decoration, some of which may not be entirely necessary.

Either way, it would seem that whether or not the graphics Martin has illustrated are the final version, they're going for the very simple and very plain look. If that is the case, it'll be a great shame. I don't mind very simple, neat, and tidy, but a flat rectangle really doesn't impress me on its own. Hopefully they'll be offset by some impressive animations and flexibility.

That globe thing behind James Rubin isn't a newswall backing, Martin, it's a part of the set over to the left hand side.

Well when we saw the News 24 graphics before launch everyone said they looked awful, but when they saw how they animated everyone went, "Cool!"

I like the 'neon' globe background on the pic above.

Well you've obviously seen more of the set than I have so I leave it to your word, I would say, it could be a removable feature...

I do admit I really like News 24's graphics, but I still can't stand the massive headlines. I prefer the smaller version which appears occasionally when something is in the way.
