I noticed while watching Sky News either Friday or Saturday that the presenter said that viewers in Ireland would be staying with Sky News this week rather than having Sky News Ireland. Could this be because the studio is having the decorators in ready for next week?

No, they just fancied a week off.

Sunday with Adam Boulton was not on today, I think Millbank maybe getting touched up.

If the Main New Studio is as people say, it will be good!

Should be an interesting week for Sky News... I reckon we'll see at least a glimpse of the new studio at some point. What will happen just before 6am next Monday? Seeing as they'll be moving buildings, will it go off air, even if just for a few seconds?

Nope. Sky tx will probably playout a recorded bulletin at 5:30am and simply switch to the new output at 6am.

I reckon we will see a special report running all day on sunday about the new look, and promos running hopefully from tomorrow.

The Newswall seems very clear and no joins visible at all. And the colours are very fresh and feel energized. So I hear...

And the music sounds like its gonna be great to hear, hardly Star Wars Score quality though I suspect.

The main Millbank studio hasn't been used for any down-the-line interviews or live reports for a few days, they have been using the second interview point with the static backdrop of the Houses of Parliament, which is usually only used if their are two guests in one segment, both at Millbank, or if the main studio is being prepared for Sunday with Boulton etc.

Isn't there meant to be a second studio for Sky News in the new building at Osterley, used for rehersals and other stuff? I wonder what that will turn out to be like?

The pictures from the Sky Press Office of the new studio/newsroom are to be released on Thursday, so perhaps it is logical to assume that any promos may not begin until then?

Just a point worth noting...

The Sky Publicity site is for the press really, not for the likes of us.

As such, I think it's reasonable to expect that the stills of the new studio may not be put up on the website itself, but just sent out to relevant people. There is a Stills Dept. at Sky who deal with these sorts of requests, and in the past any preview images have had to be requested by members of the press directly from them. I wouldn't particularly expect this to be any different. I imagine the first look we get at the studio will be from the trailers for it.

Maybe MG tomorrow?

Possible, but probably more like that if MG do an article on it, it'll be on the 24th, i.e. launch day. Seems more logical, but who knows.

I imagine that if MG do get hold of them from Sky on Thursday then they'll go up on the site straight away. But I very much expect that from tomorrow they will be running trailers. It'll be a pretty poor effort on Sky's part (given how much they've spent on it) if they don't bother to promote the thing for at least a week before launch.

There is lots of blue and red in the set. But i have heard that the colours can change

All sounds very interesting. Yes, it would make sense to do promos from Monday, and on other channels too, not just Sky News itself.

The set looks realy impressive, even if the image was a tiny bit blurred Smile

And there IS still blue, in the set....

From what I've seen of it, the primary blue and reds of the old set are staying, along with the black floor and metal.

The colour scheme, for the set at least, seems mostly unchanged. Doesn't really sit with the new logo, though. Looks dark and ''intense'', rather than the lightness of the red/white design.
