I'm glad the theme will still be recognisable though - I like the current music.

Incidentally for the relaunch the Sky News theme has been re-recorded... at the world famous Air Studios no less....
The Philharmonic orchestra was there last week - it's a full instrumental re-working of the current music... but it sounds a zillion times better.

Good thing that they are keeping a theme music over to a new look for once, abliet re-worked; a bit of brand continuity won't hurt.

Apologies if this has been asked in the previous 80 pages, but is the announcer staying (i.e. Skyyy Newwws with Joe Bloggs)?

Yep. For now it is anyway. I know that they have re-recorded "Live at Five " and "News at Ten" etc along with a few others I dont know, so they can stitch it togeather like "Sky News - Live at 5- With ....."

EDIT: Not sure if they will use them on-air though.

The new music is going to sound sensational yet familar and very Amercian, its going to be bold and distinctive, and make you think for sure to never change the channel!

That would simply be reverting to the 1993-2001 situation, where the announcer would say "This Live at Five, with Jeremy Thompson" or the like. Only in 2001 did they begin just using "Sky News with..." (except later on for Today, of course). Sky News Ireland also uses announcements in this style, eg "Sky News Ireland at Seven, with Grainne Seoige".

If they are going to bring back on-screen programme names, they might as well do this too.

I notice that for a while, when being told we can e-mail or text Sky News, we can now send video clips of ourselves giving our views on 'today's news'.

I've never actually seen any video clips during all the weeks they've been asking for them. Is this perhaps a feature of the 'new' Sky News?

More likely that no-one has yet e-mailed any pics of themselves in.

I noticed while watching Sky News either Friday or Saturday that the presenter said that viewers in Ireland would be staying with Sky News this week rather than having Sky News Ireland. Could this be because the studio is having the decorators in ready for next week?
