12.00pm - Live at Twelve
...
5.00pm - Live at Five

I know we've had this silly situation for some years now with the latter programme, but isn't there something inherently Wrrrrrong (TM) about calling a programme Live at Twelve or Live at Five, when the programme extends beyond the hours mentioned in the title?

"You're watching Live at Twelve... it's 16 minutes past one."

Daft.

I agree. There is also no need for "live" in the title at all, since the assumption is that all bulletins are live. If they really want to signify a particular strand then they should come up with something better, or revert to the normal "Sky News" name after the hour has finished.

More on that slip up about Harold Pinter from The Telegraph

Quote:
Sky TV presenter Ginny Buckley was caught off-guard by the announcement of Pinter's Nobel Prize and told viewers of the 24-hour news channel that he had died. She quickly corrected the mistake and Sky said it wanted to "apologise for any upset caused".

As they say, Sky News, never wrong for long!

Hello there. I wouldn't miss this place for the world when there's a major revamp of a certain news channel on the horizon... Wink

Anyway, I am a bit surprised at the lack of programme names on the new schedule. And of those that are there, I think that "Live at Twelve" is a daft name. At least "Live at Five" makes sense because it rhymes and rolls off the tongue (if that makes sense). I think I'd prefer something like "Sky News Midday" to "Live at Twelve". Although I'm sure the anti-Sky amongst us would prefer "Numpties at Noon" or similar.

Mind you, I still like the idea of "Tea with Thompson" in place of "Live at Five"...

Well, Live at Twelve has already had a name change...

It's now "Lunchtime Live with Kay Burley"

Incidentally for the relaunch the Sky News theme has been re-recorded... at the world famous Air Studios no less....
The Philharmonic orchestra was there last week - it's a full instrumental re-working of the current music... but it sounds a zillion times better.
