From the Sky Press Office:
Sky News today announced that it will begin broadcasting from its new studio on Monday 24 October, 2005. The first programme on air will be Sunrise, at 6am, anchored by Eamonn Holmes and Lorna Dunkley.
The channel is undergoing its most radical overhaul in its sixteen year history. It will unveil a new state-of-the-art studio as well as new on air graphics and a revamped programming schedule.
Sky News is launching dedicated programmes, each tailored for different audiences throughout the day.
In addition to signing Eamonn Holmes, Sky News has appointed former Clinton spokesman James Rubin for an evening international show and BBC presenters Ginny Buckley, Gillian Joseph and Anna Jones.
Established Sky News presenters Jeremy Thompson, Julie Etchingham and Kay Burley all have their own programmes while Martin Stanford has a new Saturday show and Adam Boulton’s flagship political programme, Sunday with Adam Boulton, has been extended by two hours.
Nick Pollard, Head of Sky News, said: “Sky News is an innovator and we are making significant changes to the way 24-hour news is covered. The new studio offers greater flexibility and we have made a significant investment in state-of-the-art technology.”
Sky News will launch its new look on Monday, 24 October at 6am. Sky News is on Sky digital channel 501, Freeview channel 42 as well as cable.
It also says at the bottom "Preview images of the new set, and Sky News’ new programme schedule will be available from Thursday 20 October, 2005."

I said on my website a few weeks ago about the Stanford programme, it'll be called 'Saturday Live with Martin Stanford' and will have a technofile section in...
I'd also heard that Adam's coming back to Osterley to present 'Sunday with Boulton' but i'm not sure if it's a temp or permanent thing - I was under the impression that it was permanent..

Just a question, Is the Millbank studios currently being done up? There doesn't seem to be any blue behind the interviewee and the whole place is dark?

Coming back to Osterley to do Sunday? AFAIK, Sunday has been done from Westminster for at least the past 8 or 9 years.
Delighted to see that there will be a return of Technofile-style show, though!
What's most curious is the idea that Sunday will be extended BY two hours... a three hour political slot? Seems a heavy slog for even the most hardened political junkies.
Given they have now confirmed the dates, can we assume that the promos will appear soon? I think you mentioned they'd already been recorded.
P.S. What on earth is Andrew Wilson doing presenting? I've not watched for a few days, but it seems a bit of a bizarre development. Is he just covering whilst mad panic is going on with the regular presenters?

I'm not too sure, one would think that Millbank and SNI will be revamped before the 24th.. I do think the new ID is very dark, (almost like the world at night time - if that makes sense)

Andrew is covering for the Injured Steve Gaisford, and Sunday as been extended to two hours - not an extra two hours.
Stanford and Boulton shows will broadcast from 10am-12pm - with a presenter (mainly Emma) doing the headlines.

Then someone at Sky needs to learn how to write a press release. It does say extended 'by' two hours. Poor!
Do you have any idea when the promos are going to start, Johnnie?

Good stuff, especially the Martin Standford programme.
The whole thing sounds quite exciting actually, very different to anything we've seen in 24 hour news over here, including the formatted programmes of the past. Everything, even Sunday with Boulton, comes from the newsroom and can handle breaking news easily, but the different formats seem more unique and stand-out than just standing up for part of the day, sitting at the desk for another.
