The gallery runs the ident (except 12/6am) the director would have told JT to wrap it up.

So couldn't the director have told the gallery that they were going to abandon the ident? Or is it more the case that the director decided it wasn't important enough to drop the TOTH?

The director sits in the gallery next to the vision mixer (VM) and on the other side of the vm is the producer, so they probably decided not to drop ID'S

The vision mixer sits to the right of the director and the directors assistant (sometimes called the PA - production assistant) sits on the left of the director. The producer sits further down on the left hand side. The PA's job is to count everything down, give timings etc. He or she also gets VT's ready to be run by the director.

I was pretty sure they don't have PAs on News 24. And most VTs are played off servers nowadays, so the PA (if there is one) isn't directly involved with their playout. I think News 24 (and possibly BBC network news too) have automated audible counts and timings 'burnt in' to their server packages.

If the gallery runs all the idents except the 12 and 6, why don't they run those idents?

Also, why on the midnight TOTH ident is there a gap in sound between the ident running and the headlines?

TX runs the 12 and 6 ID's and at the end of the first part of the ID they cut to the gallery feed, normally the first part of the ID is over laying the first headline so when the logo comes back out the first headline is there. you will notice on the 12/6am ident the logo doesn't come back out, it zooms in then its a clear cut to the gallery.

I'm not sure the reason why.

I think it's done at midnight so the gallery feed can be recorded in case it needs to be replayed during the night, and at 6am it's done so that Five can opt in cleanly.

Emma Crosby during interview: ''So, the people who are in champagne... er, I mean in Sinn Fein''

Bloody hell.

There's not many links she doesn't get tounge-tied with. She needs to get new teeth or something.

Anna Botting on the other hand is quite fantastic. Especially on two way interviews, I was watching her shut down...err I mean 'interview' a rather smug tory MP the other week about the women who's been waiting a wee while for her operation. She really isn't someone to mess with in a one to one interview. Sufficed to say, the Tory MP didn't look quite so smug at the end of the interview.

Who's the presenter this hour? We got the generic 'This is Sky News' v/o at the top of the hour.

I know some of you start ranting and raving at speculation about dates, but my pal at Sky Sports News says all the talk from 'next door' ie Sky News is about a move to the new building in August...
and also about the revelation that the news wall in the new studio is 'massive'... much bigger than even their current monster!

Does anyone know what will happen to the current studio (studio 2) once Sky News have moved?
It would make a lovely Sky Sports News studio..

This brings the suggested dates up to:

January (which has gone)
March (think we can rule that out now)
May (election campaign launch day)
May (election night)
June (straight after election)
August (we've just heard)
September (like the last one)
October/November (according to a Sky person at an event).

I'm banking on July, then.

I was quote shocked to see Anjalie Rao (sp?) on Sky News Today today. It just shows that the programme was nurtured around Martin and Julies style and nobody can quite hack it, I think Anjalie did well for her first go by the sky news pod.
