James Rubin wouldn't go on Fox, not that Fox would want him on with his connections to the Clinton era.

That is certainly an interesting appointment. I presume they re-hired him more for his contact book than his presenting ability, which is as yet entirely untested.

Very, very, very disappointing that there essentially is no prime time on the channel.

I was anticipating an evening political show, possibly a business programme, but it seems really as though they're just jazzing up what's already there. Pretty poor effort considering how long they've had to prepare for it. I really cannot comprehend why they would want Gillian Joseph over someone like Viv Creegor, Sheila Jansen, Paula Middlehurst, etc. She's dire.

IIRC, didn't he present an edition of Hardtalk for the BBC?

James isn't totally untested infront of the camera. He's host BBC World's Hard Talk and PBS's Wide Angle.

I'm more interested that they have put a World News show right in the middle of Primetime. I'll be interested to see how much of an international tilt it has.

Having an american present a prime time news show on Sky News, may be something which might allow it a presence in the US...

Well I hope they don't get too carried away with all these "programmes" - it's a news channel after all. I want to see news when I turn over, not some boring political debate type show or discussions on the latest business to go up a point on the market. Rolling Eyes

How long have you had SKY news years ago it had shows at half past the hour like

Europen Business Channel,Our World,NBC Today,BMTV,Our World,Beyond 2000,Wild West End,The Reporters,Newsline,Frank Bough,Taget,Roving Report and there was more.

I think "World News Tonight" sounds the most interesting and viewable of the new shows announced.

I've said for a long time that I don't think the "shows" will get a decent audience because we all expect rolling news channels to....well....have rolling news.

That perception was created by Sky News and now they're turning their back on it.

I expect the new studio to be an excellent environment for rolling news....and I'm personally looking forward to seeing how they handle it. That's why I wouldn't be surprised if the set piece interviews etc of these "shows" aren't around in 6 months time- I suspect we'll be back to rolling news with the same old anchors, but a better studio.

May be they could do a SKY NEWS 2 make it a bit like radio 5 with news and talk.
