Jay the logo is confirmed, and I believe the logo is red, white and black because the Idents and backing graphics, will probably be all blue, and I imagine the set is too.

Where has the logo been confirmed? Is there an official release of the logo yet?

Martin *knows* it's accurate cos a friend of a friend whos dog sniffed the the arse of another dog whos owner used to work for Sky said so. I personally think that the logo will look a bit better than what we've seen on here.

I reckon that 1 could actually be "Clever Glass" rather than a newswall as such.

I think a remember a mention of clever glass being used somewhere in the set, and it is used in the five news set too.

It just seems a bit daft to stick a whopping great big video wall right in the middle of a newsroom rather than at the side.

Oh I'm not doubting it's pretty accurate, but I don't think it's *quite* right. But hey ho, you hold the dog down for me.

It's difficult to work out what angle the picture is supposed to be at, but basically, the desk sits right in the middle of the newsroom. It's on a raised circular area which is surrounded by a kind of wall. (It's almost a contained circular set within the newsroom) on the wall on the left hand side of the newsroom is the newswall. It curves round and the presenter can walk alongside it (Around three times the height of the presenter!) It's not in the middle of the set. As far as I'm aware there isn't any glass for projections like five news has. However, there is a window that looks into the production gallery and it's tilted so it may be able to turn into a graphics screen thingy! Also, in front of the production gallery is a tacky globe effect that looks like the old ITV News globe. Basically, there's loads of space to move about. I was in there for around 20 mins and must have seen a million potential areas to broadcast from. It's a really interesting set. PS - The comfy area is on a raised platform at the top right of the newsroom. You walk up a few stairs to get to it. Don't know whether there's a couch or desk there as it had nothing on it when I looked a few months ago. You should also be able to see Sky News' radio department and weather office as they overlook the set. However, there's nothing much to see there!

just reading over on the Breakfast thread that Gillian Joseph is joining Sky to present the 9-midnight slot.

doesn't that leave an hour between the end of Julie Etchingham's show and that slot (for a yet unannounced prog.)?

Are Sky mad? Why don't they use their most talented presenter in the middle of primetime: Jeremy Thompson.

Anyone has more information about Clever Glass? I was rather impressed by the sudden appearance of the war on iraq image in Five News's set that day...

I think it's just LCD, isn't it?

Sky News had it on their old set in the 1998-2001 era, but it was used very, very, very rarely. Sky News at Ten made some the most use of it, but the only other time I saw it in operation was during the lunar eclipse, when they put an image of it behind the presenters.

God knows why they didn't use it more effectively, it was a brilliant little thing that would've added to the studio no end.

smgboi: Is there anything actually upstairs in the new Sky studio? I notice you say the weather and Radio desks will be 'looking down' on the main studio, so presumably there is stuff up there, but the artist's impression suggests that there is a big empty walkway on one side of the studio.

Sorry to veer so wildly off topic, but I thought that some of you, like me, might appreciate this Sky News humour...

The graphic on there looks like 'KY NEWS LASH'

Sounds almost kinky.
