You have to remember rumour said christmas, Sky have never set an exact date. If you will endulge in rumours, and speculation, you have to expect a worse wait.
Sky have always said by the end of the year or in the autumn, so they have not delayed or held back.
The comments on Digital Spy talk about it being as big as a NASA videowall... but don't they mean NASDAQ video wall? From memory, NASA doesn't really have one.
There's an absolutely huge one in mission-control, often seen on news reports when space shuttles are being launched / landing / in trouble.
I think perhaps people are remembering the NASA one as being bigger than it actually is. Take a look at that photo and it's about the same size as Sky's already. Either that, or there is an entirely different Mission Control centre people are thinking of.

Stop being so damn impatient and just wait!
Extract from Media Guardian interview with Dawn Airey... (previously posted by Phil-g)
"Airey's next major task is to oversee a major overhaul of Sky News. State-of-the-art studios are being built and the prime-time schedule will be rebuilt before Christmas 'to make it more distinctive'. The channel's viewing figures plummet at peak time, she says, and the new evening schedule will place more emphasis on analysis as well as on breaking news"

I'm sure I remember it being bigger than that... although things do have a tendency to look bigger in one's mind's eye (and that's not a cue for a smutty joke). I have to say that photo does look rather old though - could they have got a bigger one since?

No, they haven't.
If you mean the Mission Control in russia, that's just a big projector.
I think that as it has been described as ''hundreds of screens curving round'' then it is most likely that people are thinking of the NASDAQ... which is er, well, hundreds of screens curving round.
Sky have employed a right mess of a schedule today. I've flicked on and off during the day, but I saw Emma Crosby on Sunrise, then on Today, then Julie Etchingham in the 1300-1700 slot, but some woman they don't even have a v/o for has come on at 1500 to replace her.
It's Ginny Buckley, latterly of Holiday on BBC 1, brought in to the 'new' Sky News. Haven't been impressed so far...! But it is 10 minutes in, and I presume this is her first shift?
I think if she weren't so (understandably) nervous, she'd be fine.
The only thing I'm curious about is whether she's actually a journalist or not. Her previous job at Holiday would rather suggest that she's just a ''presenter'', which isn't very reassuring.

In an interview with Media Guardian, Dawn Airey has promised more big name signings for the prime time Sky News, saying that one has just been completed. Does anyone have any ideas who it might be?
