Sorry to break the flow, but I didn't think this was worth a new thread by any means. Anyway, I'm just back from a few days abroad where I caught a bit of Sky News' international feed. I was just wondering why the ticker is permanently covered over with a blue strap? I'm sure this has been asked before, and there's probably a blindingly obvious explanation, but can't think of it for now.

Could it be something to do with contact details which are displayed being specific to the UK?

That was my first thought, but contact details still appear elsewhere. Also, presumably only the text number would be affected, in which case surely a simple '(UK only)' afterwards would suffice.

I do think it is a very odd thing to do. The DOG I can understand them changing, as the time is only relevant to the UK, but the ticker is basically an up-sum of everything they're covering on the TV channel. Seems an odd decision to hide it away.

The only time it would make sense to hide it would be when it is just displaying a static ''Active - Email - Text - Online'' advert, as it occasionally does.

The breakfiller, with a white sky news active style globe in the background, but showing different countries. One thing did get me though is that, once the breakfiller had a sport story and then at the bottom had CLICK HERE FOR LIVE AUDIO. also the music is very jumpy... it jumps from breakfiller music to remixed sport theme, to breakfiller music etc ....

Yea, they stream the stories directly from their website on to the feed.
It is a very good system but could be better, sometimes their stories are a bit too long meaning you can't read it in time.

so do you know if Sky Sports is planning on going all blue as the opposite so to speak of the Sky News Red Logo...

Who is the question for? I would doubt Sky Sports are planning anything yet, the logo would look bloody boring if it did go all blue, and Sky are always fairly good with logos, so I doubt it very much.

If I were Sky Sports I wouldn't want to have to change my logo to something blue just because Sky News are going all red, but who knows.

well aparently the reasoning for the sky news logo is "harmonising" it with sky sports, now if Sky News goes red, wouldnt Sky Sports go blue.

If sky are set to take on the old Sky News studio, there would be lots of blue so it would fit.

I still am not keen on the logo, but the red news and blue sports logos sit nicely together I find, even at the races logo looks ok in blue...

Sky Sports all blue? It has had a red and blue logo for years, and it would be stupid to change it now. Sky Sports would not work without red and blue.
