so true lee, although I'm sure they will still be using SkyBrands for their logo, they may even keep it the same as it is now, perhaps a slight change of colour.

I am more interested in how they will be formatting their programmes in this new Centre. I don't expect any big advances in graphics, except maybe we will finally put their weather pres to death, I am sure its over 10 years old...

Or maybe they will go for a completely new logo for Sky, as well as Sky News!

They did that last time, remember. Wasn't Sky News the first channel to change to the all uppercase SKY logo? I remember people thinking it was a really bad mock when the first pics of the new logo were released!

Oh, and Lee - do I really like everything?! Lol.

Good idea, but won't that have a cost on effect for Sky One who have really only just changed their look, though I suppose a new Sky logo may be able to be edited in.

Looks like they're still trying things out on the 1-5 slot, today they've removed the chairs and Mark and Kay are standing behind the desk.

Makes a good two-shot with them and the newswall, but the wide shot looks a bit funny with them standing up behind the desk.

I don't get it.

They look uncomfortable...

The desk looks silly...

It reminds me of a kitchen advert, for some reason. Can't quite place that one.

But, most of all, it adds absolutely nothing. I like it when it's done from the newsroom... the atmosphere and the camera angles, the newswall and the use of the PC all works well. But does it really make any difference whether they stand behind a desk or sit behind one instead?

Nope.

here is a really bad quality capture of them standing up! i prefere them standing, the desk is becoming too old looking, if they could only do something with the newswall to make it more interesting (like more animations ect) i think this would work a bit better

Another interesting shot from Sky News.

They seem to be going the way of the current Sky One idents. This may be preperation for a fantastic ceiling shot in the new studio!

Wow! There can't be many presenters who'd be happy to be shot from that low an angle! I didn't see it off-air, but I'm not really sure what the point of it was. It simply loses an interesting newsroom background and offers a dull ceiling instead. Hardly the most flattering of shots...

usually with that shot, they raise the camera up to a normal eye level from that low angle position.

So, when will SKY News move to the new studios? Is there a planned date, yet? Who knows more about the new studio?

As said before, they will probably move into the new studios between May/July with May being the very earliest (this has been said on numerous occasions i.e. after the election). Rehersals in the studios begin in March. So we'll just have to be patient.
