I feel that Anna Jones is actually better suited to Sky News although I'm still quite surprised she is leaving News 24. I wonder which female presenter will take up her 9-1pm slot and present with Phil Hayton? I think Kate Silverton could be the likely candidate of finally getting a permanent slot. This new look of Sky News sounds exciting stuff - I really hope they give us something completely different and fresh. Looking forward to the new schedule and seeing Mr Holmes take up his seat in the Sunrise programme.

The press release doesn't make clear what Ginny's role will be on the channel. Although it says "presenter", maybe this could mean that she is presenting something less news-based maybe a Sky equivalent of the BBC's Fast-Track or Hardtalk Extra. I don't really have a clue as to whether there is any truth in these suggestions, but it would be nice to see Sky occasionally breaking away from 24/7 rolling news into scheduled programmes. What does everyone else think of this idea?

Also, I reckon that there could be specific understudies to the new programmes presented by Kay, JT and Julie. What does everyone think of this "reserve" line-up...

12:00-14:00 ... Anna Jones (Kay Burley's usual programme)
17:00-18:40 ... Chris Roberts (Jeremy Thompson)
19:00-20:00 ... Sheila Jansen (Julie Etchingham)

I agree with a great amount that cat writes, though certainly not with this. Given that there have been no other replies to this, it appears I am in a minority? She always seems spectacularly dull to me. This can't be attributed to her pairing with Philip Hayton - Joanna Gosling has performed better than Anna Jones when paired with both Chris Lowe and Hayton, IMHO.

Will Anna Jones be put on 'Gardening leave' as other presenters have, when both Dermot and Kirsty left ITV, or do you think they will just keep her on untill her contract is up.

The BBC doesn't seem to be as bothered as ITV about showing presenters the door as soon as they defect to a rival. Kate Sanderson continued to present bulletins on BBC Breakfast for a good while after announcing she was going to Sky / Five News. Perhaps if it was a more high profile defection they'd act differently though.

I've gotta say, Steve Dixon truly is fab. I didn't really like him not so long ago... well I didn't dislike him, but I thought that as he's pretty young he'd probably be bland so never really paid much attention to him. From reading his site, I reckon he's as much as a saddo... I mean enthusiast as we are. Anyone know if he reads or even posts here?
Interesting the site has a lot of photos of the current Sky News studio.

Well, entitled to your opinion, but I think you're quite, quite wrong.

She always has a smile on her face, unlike the rest of the lot, who seem half asleep.

Out of interest, with Jeremy Thompson getting the 5-6.30 slot, will this herald the end for the 'Live at Five' brand on the channel? After Sunrise, it's the longest running slot on the channel, so would be a shame if it died.

Sky News Live @ Five with Jeremy Thompson has a good ring to it.

Perhaps use the @ tag and introduce a couple of interacitve elements

Ugh. No thank you.

There's enough of that general-public-speaks-out sh!te on the channel as it is. I'm sick of Dorris from Woking making it clear to the nation that she doesn't know what she's talking about, and newsreaders not bothering to question it.

I thought Anna Jones most effective presenting was when she partnered Chris Lowe on the weekend a couple of years ago. I havn't liked her style on the morning shift and so have watched less and less. It's a good thing this change is being forced on N24 , i'd welcome a new livelier presenter .

In the time slots 7am to 1 pm the BBC news presenters are largely a charisma and personality free zone compared to the opposition on ITVNC and Sky. The only presenters who have any spark in them are Sian Williams and Simon Mccoy.

I'd welcome a new lively face in the mornings on News 24, like Kate Sanderson. But please don't put Joanna Gosling back in that slot! She made me want to go back to sleep in the mornings...
