Well if the papers are to be believed then it's a 2 million pound deal for Eamonn which is not bad - sure others may be tempted with that sort of cash.

I wonder if we will see any other big-name poaches from ITN or BBC News, I remember reading an interview with IIRC Nick Pollard who said there would be some poaches from other broadcasters, but I wonder if Eamonn will be the only one they actually poach?

During THE football yesterday, I flicked over to Sky News to see if anything was happening in the world.
Who decided to stick up a "BREAKING NEWS- LIVERPOOL MATCH GOES TO EXTRA TIME" strap? (this later became BREAKING NEWS- LIVERPOOL MATCH GOES TO PENALTIES).
They carried on with the other news behind the rather large strap.
Surely anyone with the intelligence of an amoeba can realise these things:
1. If you're interested in the football- you're either watching it or have now been prompted to switch channels over to ITV. i.e. decrease Sky News audience
2. If you're not interested in football you've got half (OK, a bit less) of your screen covered up with the strap. i.e. pissing off the viewers you've got left.
All in all, not a good strategy for winnning or holding viewers.
