Well, I notice on the international feed that the DOG has changed - the logo used to be centered, with equal portions of blue and red either side of " SKY news " text. Now though, it's just like the UK's DOG, except the clock is replaced by solid red - so it's basically the Sky News logo on the left, with an extended red bar...

Presenter rehersals in the new News Centre studios commence in march, with a launch in May at the very earliest.

Yes, it is true, they will begin rehersals in march.

It's a shame we have to wait until May or so to see the new Studios, I personally think it would be nice for them to be in there before the general election, they could give better coverage.

Personally I'd have thought it better for them to wait until things are ready - if they rush into things, then the coverage might end up being worse.

That said, launching into a studio with new graphics the moment the election is announced would make for rather exciting viewing*, and have something of a The Day Today quality about it..

I remember when the 2001 election was announced they unleashed a complete new graphics package - which, in my opinion, are the best graphics they've had to date.

I think Sky News might have learned their lessons after the 2001 September/October relaunch, which quite frankly was rushed and shoddy. The graphics weren't ready, and it was sort of half arsed.

Better to wait for it in my opinion.

you also must add that the time when the graphics were launched (after 9/11) was an awakward time, as there was always likve coverage and very little breaks, as far as i remember

I often take a look at the news channels at around this time most nights, although not recently. Two things I haven't noticed before. Firstly, the blue box housing the time is no longer slightly transparent like it use to be (a big change in graphics I'm sure you'll agree), and they seem to be in CSO mode. When did that happen?!

No screengrabs here, I'm afraid - but this morning, the blue box for the clock is more translucent than usual, making it a bit hard to see the time.

Also, I don't think you were looking at a CSO, it's just the standard overnight shot they use when the newswall's switched off, while they clean all the news off it. (Maybe.)

I'm not saying they should rush the launch of the new Studios/graphics.
But the opinion I get is that they just simply aren't ready yet and are much more complicated than Five News' studio.

Obviously they should wait until everything is 100% ready so when they do re-launch it goes of with a bang (not literally, though, I hope).
At least they have the luxury of having the existing set whilst construction of the new News Centre takes place, so they can take their time and make sure everything is right.

It seems that all it was, was that someone pressed the wrong button and removed the transparency from the clock - and then when they tried to fix it this morning it went very transparent. Looked almost a light grey colour which looked good except you couldn't see the time when it was over a white background!

When I was watching at around 11ish you could see that they were slowly fading up the blue background until it went back to normal.
