So they're going down the single header thing. Hmmm. I'd have thought it's better to have double headers at prime time. Unless they have a summary monkey like on C4 News.
Just hope they don't go down the line of US news when the show has the presenter's name in the title and so even when the presenter is on leave still has their name mentioned.
"Now on Sky News, Jeremy Thompson's Tea Time, with Martyn Stanford"

It also seems strange that they are going head to head with C4 news with, what at the moment seems to be the flagship analytical slot - you would have thought they may have put it at 8 - when there is no main rival for your show.
To be honest, though, they could apply that to all of their programming.
I doubt they'd put a political programme - if there is going to be one - opposite Newsnight, but to be honest I don't expect they have serious hopes of outdoing C4. If it's a good enough show, people will watch.
I think C4's audience base is so loyal, like Newsnight's, that nothing could tempt them away from it. Probably not the sort of audience that they're after either.
6.30 does on the face of it sound like a good time for sport/business, but it's a pretty important slot, and I find it hard to believe they'd put in there some 'non-news' programming. Sort of defeats the point. I for one hope there is less sports, even if it does bring in viewers.
I reckon they might give it over to some sort of interactive slot. We shall see. But then Thompson does like his sports, doesn't he, so maybe he'll lead into it. God knows.
The original names...! What's wrong with the original names?
"Morning Edition" ?
"Afternoon Edition" ?
"Tonight" ?
"World News Hour/Tonight" ?
"Newswatch" ?
Of course Kay used to present Afternoon Edition along with the most excellent Christopher Morris so it's a return to form.
Oh and I hope "On The Hour" is now going to return - if they've got all the programme strands then they can't call the normal hours just "Sky News" anymore surely?
Wait till you see the new graphics... they're lovely...
much more subtle and understated than at the moment...
there's a new colour for the main SKY NEWS logo...
AND a new programme theme.

To be quite honest, I think even Channel 52 Lebanon would have to go some way to outdoing Sky News for messy, overstated, and pointlessly brash at the moment.
I look forward to individual programme branding. At the moment there is no point in naming any of their strands, they're all pretty much the same format.
Any graphics would be an improvement to the current array (excluding American/Fox News style). And hopefully they won't make swooshing noises either each time it cuts to a live two-way feed.

Anything, just so long as it bears no resemblance to any of the Fox News names.
I can't imagine them doing anything other than putting the presenter names in the slot, so it'll almost certainly be ''[programme name] with Kay Burley'' or ''Etchingham [programme name]''.
