Does anyone know if Sky News will change their main logo with the re-launch?
I quite like the existing one, but it would be nice to see a modified one. Slightly smaller perhaps, and more of a box shape (like '95-2001) so it will fit snug in the bottom corner of the screen instead of stretching accross a quarter of it like the present one.

That's standard for the ticker for weekends, ever since they decided to (a) keep the ticker permanently after Hutton (wrongly in my opinion) and (b) keep something onscreen at weekends when they're weren't generating any content (again wrongly in my opinion).
I really don't think it adds anything at all. At least when 24 have a ticker its always in context (although I don't really see why they felt the need to copy Sky with the graphics in between stories and, worse, writing everything in uppercase).

what on earth is going on with sky news at the moment?
the ticker has been static with "[JACKSON TRIAL] DAILY COURT RECONSTRUCTIONS AT 9.30AM & 2.30PM" for hours, and the newswall doesn't seem to have the usual feeds on it.

They can't get rid of the ticker, because the current graphics look daft without it.
It'd be more sensible to add a little gradient to the bottom of the straps, so they looked reasonable without a ticker.
I do hope we don't end up with an animating DOG. News 24's is just about bearable, but some great shiny thing spinning around would drive me absolutely insane.
I am slightly concerned that we will end up with some sort of ridiculously brassy set of graphics, and that with the new technology they will be more concerned at Sky about whether they could instead of whether they should. That said, election graphics bode well.

i have to say, i haven't really sat down and watched sky news for a sometime, but i'm fairly certain that the last time i did, they did have the usual scrolling top stories - you're right, if they must in insist on keeping it there, at least use it and put the headlines on it or something, surely that can't be too much effort, especially since weekends tend to be fairly slow on news, they wouldn't need to be updated all that often.
i often wonder why sky don't stick a semi-transparent ticker over the adbreaks - some channels keep their dogs on screen with various programme information, so why don't they do this?

I think it's Sky policy - none of the Sky channels broadcast any bugs over adverts.

I think Sky Sports News sometimes leave the vidiprinter and statistics up on screen on Saturdays.

Kay Burley has an interview in today's Indy. My personal highlights: Asked about what Sundays she reads:
"A distillation of The Sunday Times, Mail on Sunday and News of the World tends to cover it. The Independent on Sunday is a must read too."
And magazines? Is she obsessed with the weeklies? Not our Kay...
"My favourite magazine - I'd like to say Cosmo, Vanity Fair, but it's Good Housekeeping."
High-brow.
