It was planned. They first emailed me on Monday.

We spent ages out on deck in the biting wind, but because of the technical problems at Sky Centre the thing was delayed so we went back into the cabin, only to be called back out again straight away.

The Widescreen will be used for Five's coverage I would suspect, also The New studios are all supposed to be Widescreen Ready from what I have heard, so this may be their first test at rolling news in W/S

That did occur to me, however you've still got the problem of that big panel on the left with the constituency details which will have to be in the safe area. They will lose quite a bit of screen space there (I think).

Sorry, but what's the point of posting a cap of Sky News Australia in relation to the UK election cap?

I had a look at the movie Lee posted and find the set even more looks like one of the oddest sets to be on TV for an election. It just seems odd seeing a futuristic space ship style desk on a serious news program (Ten Melbourne also has a space ship style set that looks odd).

Oops - forgot to mention that I thought that the two looked fairly similar - particularly in terms of their fairly dull colour scheme.
