Allan will probably fit somewhere into the weekend schedule, Sky News Tonight Weekend would be a good fit.

What about the others such as Viv and Paula etc. Are they confirmed as leaving or will they fit into weekend/overnight/fill-in postions?

Sky Press Office

Allan appears but unfortunately not Viv or Paula Crying or Very sad They still might turn up freelance though.

I am looking forward to seeing how the new thing looks.

But three words instantly spring to mind about the new look and studio - "The Day Today".

Bigger newsroom x fancy graphics = more authoritative news.

Go get 'em, Chris.

I must say the new set has grown on me alot over night - I especially love that new newswall and the fact it doesn't have any dividing lines or anything to distort the images put on it..

(From http://media.guardian.co.uk/broadcast/story/0,7493,1596781,00.html )

You can clearly see the squares that make up the newswall in some of the publicity shots, whether these will be visable on screen is yet to be seen. However, it's odd that you can't see similar "joins" on the screen Barco provided for the London Stock Exchange (although I admit it is significantly smaller!)

The squares on the LSE screens are pretty easy to see.

You have to remember that Sky's screens are a lot smaller than the LSE screens too because, paradoxically, the newswall is bigger.

Sky needed lots of tiny squares so that the thing could curve around smoothly - you couldn't have that with lots of massive squares, it'd look odd - so there are more screens and perhaps that's why you can see more joins. As it is, I think it looks damn good.

The whole thing looks fantastic. The scale of it all certainly setting a new standard in news presentation in this country. It's like having a one off election night studio in use the whole time.

Whenever a broadcaster has a revamp, it puts them ahead for a bit, then the competitors catch up. This is going to take some beating, makes the News 24 pod look tiny and cramped and ITN just basic. Hard to see what the competitors can do in terms of a response.

Good points: The set looks good. The music has promise if it is used well. I don't mind the astons either.

Bad points: Anna Botting at a time I will *never* see her.
Paula? She looked really good earlier today.
What about Anjali?
I really don't want a news channel made up of GMTV and BBC people. If I had wanted GMTV and BBC people, I would never have started watching Sky News. I want Allan, Viv, Sheila. I want Paula and Anjali. I want Jeremy and Anna B together on Live at Five. I am really angry about this.
Evil or Very Mad

I also want a *rolling news channel*. Not segments, or programmes. If I wanted those, I would have been watching News 24 for years. I am really angry about this too.
Evil or Very Mad

Destroy the only decent news channel going why don't they? Oh sorry, they have.
