When the service was resumed (it's back off now), the station was in full swing, as if nothing was wrong; probably safe to assume it's not a problem with the gallery, but from TX or beyond..

Yes especially as the looped recording accompanying the slide was of a BBC announcer Confused

No I'm not saying it would be obvious, I'm saying the recording was not coming from Sky tx and therefore the fault was unlikely to lie with them.

Have to admit, my first reaction was 'Kay Burley's mother', but still, she looks good for it.

I'm sure this has been mentioned already somewhere so excuse me for any repeating that takes place between now and the end of this post.

I often take a look at the news channels at around this time most nights, although not recently. Two things I haven't noticed before. Firstly, the blue box housing the time is no longer slightly transparent like it use to be (a big change in graphics I'm sure you'll agree), and they seem to be in CSO mode. When did that happen?!

http://www.leeseaman.com/stuff/tvforum/skynewsgrab01.jpg

I say CSO but I don't really know, I just notice the different lighting that seems to be shining almost from behind, and a sharpish edge around the presenter. I also witnessed the camera moving up a bit (the presenter moved down) while the background remained static.

Maybe one of you can tell me what its all about? Smile

[edit] I think I'm probably wrong, it's just me overreacting.

Is he the bloke that gives people lessons at 'The London Academy'
'News Presenting'?

Sky News has hired Granada Factual Executive, Gideon Joseph to help with the relaunch of the channel...

From Sky Press Office...

Gideon Joseph will join Sky News as an Executive Producer to help with the launch of their new studios and evening schedule later this year.

Joseph is a former producer on BBC Newsnight and Tonight with Trevor McDonald. He was also featured as a Broadcast Hot Shot in 2004.

Joseph, who worked closely with Sir Trevor McDonald on numerous Tonight specials, has been on a fast-track management scheme at Granada for the last 18 months where he has been focusing on the commercial side of the TV business. He will leave his current duties as Production Executive next month.

At BBC Newsnight, Joseph produced coverage of the 2000 US Presidential Election as well as a rare live interview with Vice President Al Gore. While on ITV’s Tonight he helped secure some of the programmes biggest stories such as exclusive interviews with Michael J Fox; Tony Blair; The Williams Sisters and Dr. Condoleezza Rice.

Nick Pollard, Head of Sky News, says, “Gideon has an excellent track record in news and current affairs programming. The flair he has shown for securing big interviews and exclusive features will be put to good use at Sky News.”

Joseph says, "I am delighted to be joining a Sky News team that is used to winning awards for breaking news. I look forward to challenging our rivals for exclusives - whether they are news-making interviews, human interest tales or political scoops."

Blimey doesn't she look good - a change of hair has done the world of good. Don't think poor old Viv deserves to be compared to Kay Burley's mother though....I imagine Burley's mum would be rather frosty and pout like her daughter. Something Viv certainly doesn't do.
