Why on earth do they need another presenter when they yet have too much?

Have Sky dropped some more reporters on the quiet? Simon Newton popped up on BFBS' The Week in Afghanistan on Sunday (it seems to be where all the ex-Sky News presenters/reporters end up) and his twitter page @skynewsnewton no longer works.

His twitter handle is now @journonewts and his biog says he is a freelancer and reports from Afghanistan for BFBS, as well as reporting for Sky

That's a shame, his on the scene reporting and tweeting on the London Riots was very good indeed.

And it's a shame that paula middlehurst is a freelancer and not part of the staff!

Hasn't she always been a freelancer? Have you considered this is personal choice? Perhaps she likes the flexibility. Perhaps there's a reason Sky wants the shifts she fills to be taken by a freelancer (holiday costs, maternity leave etc.). I just don't understand why people fill this thread with the likes of "it's a shame that paula middlehurst is a freelancer and not part of the staff!".

But she used to present high profile shifts in the past ( e.g Skynews at Ten in 2008)This rather seemed that she used to be part of the staff, because since 3 years she only presents those horrible 15minutes shifts on weekends.

He's always been freelance at Sky, so I imagine going to BFBS part-time is a personal choice.

I'm sure she is still regarded highly by Sky News, her private matters shouldn't trouble you, anyway she might have more say when she works.

But she is the only presenter who is NOT listed in the biographies on skynews pressoffice site , although even personalities like chloe potter or gemma morris are mentioned.
