Ridiculous ! Martin Stanford was not allowed to present his whole hour until 9 pm due to the Great Breaking News in the verdict of Amanda Knox. Instead Anna Botting presents from 8.25 pm
That's shocking. The way Sky News treats its long-serving anchors in some cases is just disgusting.

He's completely stale and boring to watch - a good move by Sky to switch to Anna...

Would disagree. He actualy has some character and variation in his tone - although the 20/20 news he has to present certainly doesnt show this off.
Would take him over any of the other male presenters for breaking news possibly with the exception of Andrew Wilson.
Totally with you. In what seems now to be the height of his career, Martin was brilliant on Sky News Today in the early 00's. His pairing with Julie Echingham was just superb, great chemistry, yet also a great skill to switch from hard news to a light story. There's a great clip of somewhere just can't locate it of Martin handing back to Julie from the newswall, and the whole team seem to have the giggles about something the director said through talkback. Anyone else remember this clip?!
Anyway, he's far superior to most of the other male anchors other than JT. Shame he's so restricted in the 20 min loop, as he was great on Technofile/SkyNews.com/Unplugged too, all of which I believe he was part of instigating with the Sky News management.
yes indeed very sad how this great presenter is treated by skynews. He is capable of covering big stories and one of sky's longest-serving presenters. The last time I remember him presenting longer than his usual shift was during the raoul moat breaking news in summer 2010 and in march this year he once presented from midnight to cover the ongoing situation in libya and japan. In my opinion you could read from his face that he enjoyed to present a more significant shift like world news

I was a massive fan of Martin. I remember around 2005 he and Jeremy covered the crisis in Isreal with Lebanon and he was just superb. However since he has been given a reduced role at Sky he has become dull and uninterested probably because he has been demoted and shunted whenever there is a big story. By becoming monotoned he is just putting himself further down the pecking order which I believe is his own fault. Its terrible to see someone so capable and competent allowing themselves and accepting a minor role in a corporation he has been at since its inception.
Alistair Bukhall is becoming Business Correspondent on Monday. Chessa Chapman I just noticed today is now a Five correspondent. Who replaced her in skys north of England beareau?
