HO
I agree. She is too stale for a breakfast time show. Sunrise is stale aswell, how serious is that music over the headlines? Inapropriate for a morning news show.
I do rate her however when she covers solo. I also don't understand why she isn't stand in for Eamonn Holmes, they would rather get someone else in the hot seat, and leave her there. Sureley it would be better if she took the helm, being the more faimilar face to the slot?
Wouldn't the problem more be that if Charlotte presents Sunrise then there aren't many semi-high-profile presenters to present with her, so compared to (say) Andrew, Charlotte and Jacquie presenting you end up with Charlotte, Matt (Smith) and Jacquie?
Yeah, I know where you are coming from, but personally I think that viewers of that time in the morning, would rather see a familiar face than an higher profile presenter, who they not that used to. Surely its better for Sunrise for their established team to take preference and for stand ins to presenter the headlines. Regular Sunrise viewers would be seeing Charlotte every morning, so it only makes sense for me for her to be Eamon's stand in.
However, I understand where you are coming from in having a high profile presenter. If that is to be the case, then surely make Eamon's stand in a regular one, and not chop and change when it suits. Id rather it not Mark Longhurst, because that means him having time of his own slot regulary then. So bascially get a presenter that is a pernament standin for Eamonn.
I think Sky really needs some fresh junior blood on the channel. The likes of Sarah Jane Mee is very good, but they seem to be lacking males of the same quality. Hopefully Ashish Joshi will end up presenting again if he's moving back to London.
I think Colin would be a great choice for Eammon's stand-in - he's already on the channel five days a week at similar times anyway, is a well-known and established presenter more than capable of presenting Sunrise. You could then put other presenters - such as Samantha Simmonds or even (if she was up to it) Charlotte on the Live Desk, that way solving many problems.
I do think certain members of the Sky News family are treated wrongly though - I will forever struggle to see how Colin and Anna are often treated lower down the pecking order than Kay Burley when both are of a much higher, more professional standard, as are Lorna Dunkley and Andrew Wilson who seem shoved on weekends mostly. I genuinely don't know what Sky see in Kay these days.
Can anyone else see Colin joining ITV or the BBC in a few years time? I think he'd do brilliantly on a high profile, scheduled network bulletin.
Charlotte Hawkins reminds me of a dry fish. I just can't connect to her.
