Can someone please give Paula Middlehurst a proper job - I'm sick of seeing her on weekend NSW!!! She should be doing some 'proper' established shifts, why do they give some good shifts to say Charlotte Hawkins, Sarah Jane Mee (yawn) or Sarah Hughes! Paula doesn't pout and ask generic questions like these 2 or 3, and she always keeps a good flow going - she'll repeat a story 3 times in the NSW and yet each time it is delivered as if it had just broke, so surely she should get more time to shine!

totally agree! Sky ONLY lets her presenting the nsw and she would be great on so many other positions . Itīs also a shame that she isnīt listed as a main presenter on the skynews pressoffice site. Even gemma morris is listed as a presenter

I guess I'm in a minority, but I don't really rate her. Also, the reason she's not listed on the website is presumably because she's freelance.

I think Sarah Jane Mee is better suited to the work she does at Sky Sports but I would rate Charlotte and Sarah above Paula. She has a long way to go but I think Charlotte will play a prominent role at Sky News in the future.

If she elects to stay with Sky News of course. I can think of at least two high profile jobs for other broadcasters she's been linked to in the past couple of years alone.

I have to agree and have to extend this train of though to include Martyn Stamford Confused

It's a new trend at Sky, keep the capable experienced presenters in miserable 15 minute every 15 minute slots while the likes of Hawkins, Sarah whats's her name and Matt the biz correspondent fill in on established weekday slots. Rolling Eyes

Matt the showbiz correspondent left Sky News last week. If I remember correctly, Paula has a young family and was on maternity leave last year, so maybe she has an agreement with Sky to work part time on weekend shifts?
I'm not sure how Sky runs their rota and how it handles part time presenters, but that's the reason I'd give for her only presenting NSW on the weekend.

I completely agree about Charlotte. I was highly impressed with her presenting when she covered for the main shows over the past few weeks. She has been with Sky now for over 4 years and in my opinion it is time for her to be given the opportunity to do more than just present the bulletins on Sunrise.

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the return of Sarah Pennock on Sunrise this morning. Presumably covering for Isobel?

Just channel flicking and noticed Sarah Stirk on sport. Bit of a surprise to see her turn up on Sky, I've seen her on the BBC News channel a lot in recent months. Maybe she's freelance.

A lot of the sports presenters seem to be freelance - Amelia Harris is, if I remember correctly, and the likes of Sue Thearle (who could often be seen on Setanta Sports News). Similarly, Karthi Gnanasegaram seems to cover sports bulletins at both Sky and the BBC News Channel these days.

I wish she'd say aitch D and not Haitch D. It's so irritating. Why do people do that?

Ian Woods is returning to London from Sydney at the end of June. Jonathan Samuels will be taking over as the new Australia correspondent. (from Twitter)
