He's left Sky News' staff rolls. But I wonder if his comment "freelancing as a presenter" means that it will still be business as usual on Sky News, but not on the staff ticket?
To my recollection he hasn't been on in a couple of weeks. Charlette Hawkins has been doing some weekend presenting along with Anna Jones and Colin Brazier who did Saturday Lunchtime which is un-usual. He was a good entertainment correspondent but his transition to presenting didn't really work.
So really all they're doing is bringing Sky News at Ten's format forward by an hour, and cut short Martin Stanford's hours, again. I thought that he was finding his feet again once they introduced the 20 minute bulletins. But as you say, at least Sky are phasing out NSW.
Why on Earth is Martin so underrated on Sky? Botting seems to be their evening star and he's just a newsreader on a repetitive idiot slot.
Why not put them together and have a decent night schedule.
@Kevin_Maguire If there are any papers in by then! Some of us wondering how this will work....
It's a legitimate point, will they just end of blabbering on for half an hour about the days news and only have access to a couple of the front pages? It may take from the 11.30pm review. In addition while the Press Preview is very watchable when the guests are good, it is dull and lifeless when they are not.
Nonetheless I am in favour of reducing the amount of hours NSW is on the air - although the change to a 20 minute format has improved it considerably. And I guess the Press Preview is a popular slot so it makes sense to try and expand it, will be interesting to see how they work it though.
To expand on Paula's concern, if the UK papers are "not in yet", surely the 9:30pm segment could focus on the Eastbound international front pages? There will be many available at that point.
