The other way to look at it, if someone (anyone) from Sky News were offered and accepted The One Show job they would instantly become a recognised name to many more viewers and it could be argued that having a name reading the headlines could also be beneficial to Sky News.
Unless she was to go back to Sky bosses, say "I've been offered The One Show" and see if they'll offer her a promotion or two to keep her on. I get the impression that's what Kate Silverton did when she was offered Five News.
noticed the sky news website saying matt smith is down to present live at five tonight - really don't rate him as a presenter especially for higher profile slots such as live at five! would make much more sense for someone such as Gillian to present rather than doing news summaries on sunrise. Samantha could of also been used rather than been stuck on the live desk all week!
Ah, OK. Well at least one job has been saved. I suppose in 2010 you can't really expect to be taken seriously as a news channel if you have a social media correspondent but not a defence correspondent, so it makes sense that that post has been done away with.
In addition, I believe Richard Suchet is still around, mainly working as a reporter for Five News, but still doing bits and pieces for Sky as well. It’s all the same organisation, after all.
Stephen Dixon on Saturday Live this morning. Probably the first time since the good old days prior to the 2007 relaunch when it was often Steve (as he was then) and Emma Crosby doing the headlines (though occasionally they swapped around)

Whatever happened to that other guy (also called Steve) who used to appear quite often with Emma Crosby as well, and who was caught on screen with Emma one day munching on "Hob-Nobs" in between films? Can't recall his name, but he was also quite good. I think he was a sports reporter initially, then moved over to news.
