Best discuss this in the other thread - this one is about presenters the other is about presentation.

I noticed this around Christmas whilst watching Kay and from the clip today - does she often go scriptless?

Kay is a first class broadcaster - if she needs to ad-lib or fill in she can do it without sweat and without you even noticing really - despite her critics she is one of the best around.

There was a period where the criticism was more than deserved - in 2009 and 2010 in particular she had some real car-crash moments whether it was the original Chris Bryant phonehacking interview/telling some Westminster protestors to go home and watch Sky News/Ash Wednesday comments/making Peter Andre cry.

She's better these days, as ever is a lively watch and of course is a vastly experienced broadcaster

I think she’s brilliant. I would also guess that there’d be no need for her to throw a Carrie Gracie style strop.

Aye, I agree. I know she’s not everyone’s cup of tea, so to speak, but I like Kay.

Amongst many, a standout performance for me was the mega-voxpop on The Mall on the night of HM Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert.

I wonder if she'll be returning to her 15:00-19:00 slot as of Friday?

I thought Gamal made the Friday afternoon shift his own, so adjusting to the different dry delivery style of Sarah Hewson on a Friday compared to the personality led Kay and Gamal in this shift is challenging.

I think it was always likely she would return though - Gamal was only ever maternity cover.

Agree that the delivery style is a little different though and maybe not so suited to the slot, because of that, but give her time and she might be able to adjust.

Sarah's dealing with the number of technical issues she's had very well though and she's calm, assured and confident but as you say, maybe not best suited to such slot.

Gamal is back on the Friday afternoon shift today.

I assumed Sarah was back to it permanently after last week but maybe not.
