I'm liking Kimberley Leonard on this afternoon's 14:00-17:00 slot. Personally, I think she's got a really good presenting style regardless, but the kinetic manner of this particular shift has really allowed her to come into her own...is this the first time she's covered this shift?

I watched the first half an hour and I thought she was very poor.
Couldn't go 30 seconds without stuttering or correcting herself and at one point had her back to the screen and was looking into the camera, turned around and said "there you are" and appeared confused with what was going on a couple of times. Maybe she was better later in the shift but first half an hour she did little to change my opinion of her. Maybe it's a confidence thing though and she'll get better with time.
Dermot is on at 5pm - that's the first time I've seen him in Osterley for a long time!

I agree
Give it a rest about Kimberly - she has never done that shift before, especially in that studio with the huge newswall. She was very, very good

I watched Kimberley briefly and was good to see her doing more than just reading autocue. However, she clearly does have a personality when she's given the opportunity to use it in her delivery, as with the Kay shift.
To add, it was Tom and Rebecca on Sunrise this morning. The second presenter role really is wasted on weekdays when they're relegated to a couple of 5 min heads.

Going by what I've seen, I think they'll have the equivalent of time that the second presenter had in 2009 till when Eamonn left

It's a waste - honestly when Gamal was on yesterday I only saw some bits and that is why I asked if he was going solo because I didn't see anyone else and the desk was set-up for just one person when I saw it.
The whole idea of having one person and the occasional contribution for a few minutes an hour or a little more is flawed - either have two people (which I prefer) and use them both properly or have one and free the other person up to do something worthwhile elsewhere.

In my opinion, Kay's shift is the most intense out of the lot; you've got the hard and soft news, as well as the various standing interviews in front of the big screen (notably the #SkyDebate), so the presenter has to know where best to place themselves in relation to the camera whilst thinking about what they'll be asking the interviewee and, more often than not, having to step into and break up some fiery discussions between two parties! Anyone who is new to that style of presenting will probably need a few such stints before they're 100% confident (at least, on the outside!), but I maintain the fact that Kimberley came into her own this afternoon, especially impressive if it was her first time.
Gamal and Tom have definitely settled into that slot now.

Yeah - it's for sure the most intense one but I like the mixed feel of it - it's totally suited to the time-slot that it is - today we have Colin on it who is desk-bound - Colin's great at his presenter role but not really suited to this slot and having it behind a desk makes the program feel totally different than it does when you have the Kay style show that Tom/Gamal/Kimberley have done.

Sarah-Jane Mee is presenting Sunrise tomorrow from the old studio with Robert Nisbet on a Friday. She's also confirmed normal service returns to Sunrise on Tuesday.

Is the new schedule permanit? Also what is the new line up during the day?
AL
Yes, the presentation of that shift really does make it stand out from the rest of the schedule. They used to base it solely at the desk when someone was covering for Kay (with the exception of Gamal and his 15:00-19:00 shift on a Friday), but it seems that they alter that based on how the presenter feels. I think seeing as Kimberley was doing a lot of standing-presenting in front of the screen on Monday and Tuesday on Sunrise, she probably felt comfortable in Kay's format. I've not known Colin to ever do this shift, so he most likely felt more comfortable presenting just from the desk (same with Dermot).
