Cheers for those details, Its strange when you look overnight on the BBC news channel how often the singapore news desk appears.
It's the same as how other international channels have presentation that follows the sun. CNN 'anchor' from London and Hong Kong and AJE when it launched shifted from Doha to Kuala Lumpur to Washington to London.
Asia is a big market for BBC World (in fact it started there as BBC Asia) and in their morning peak it's nighttime in London so it provides a better service than they'd have otherwise. I think Singapore does an opt out for Asia at certain times too

Yes, Singapore isn't a great place for a news bureau, it's a smart modern city/country and has got good air links to other places, but not a lot happens there.
Bangkok is a bit more rough and ready but also a couple of hours further north so more central in South East Asia.
Kuala Lumpur is a favourite location for news bureaus too, seems a bit of a compromise between the two
From what I know only two news channels have their bureaus in Kuala Lumpur, the city where I live. Al Jazeera English and TRT World. Al Jazeera English used to be in KLCC for a few years until they move to another location. I think they gave up live presentation from Kuala Lumpur?

They did, after only a year or two. Before that they were on a par with London and Washington. AJE's original location in KL was in one of the Petronas Towers, which apparently turned out to be a bit impractical and oddly even though they had the potential for a window backdrop they were in the only tall landmark that was normally surrounded by fog!
TRT seem to just copying the original AJE template 10 years later. They are using lots of AJEs former staff too.
I would have thought the choice of KL by them is in part due to Malaysia being one the only Muslim country in mainland South East Asia.

The fog in Kuala Lumpur, if you're already know, is because of thunderstorms and clouds after the rain. Tower 1 of Petronas Towers is occupied by Petronas only while the second is for other companies. Petronas' previous offices was at Dayabumi Tower.
