i notice Sky are advertising for a new defence correspondent. I thought that position had been made redundant when they got rid of Geoff Meade?

and what's the deal with using Sky Sports News presenters as well? so now they have a surplus of sports presenters acting as 'correspondents' presumably on the same pay. can't see how they're saving money there.

Re: Sports- Nick Powell has become sports editor on sky news and sky sports news and at certain points in the day a sky sports presenter will provide the sports on sky news its explained in more detail from about page 11.

I always thought Geoff Meade was a good defence correspondent sky were stupid to get rid of who they did in the clear out.

We know that but your not addressing his point. Although SSN present some sports bulletins it would appear that none of the Sky News sports presenters have been sacked and have been rebranded as sports reporters etc and thereby Sky are not saving any money on their sports coverage.

Well they are because they are probably going to take a pay cut and also some of the presenters they use such as Matt Teale are frelaunce.

Why do you keep posting such unsubstanciated meaningless drivel? If this was wikipedia nobody would be able to read your posts because of the number of [citation needed] tags all over it (probably along with the grammar / spelling warnings too).

Would they not have taken a pay cut already then if the changes have taken place. It's a strange one though, because they still use the same amount of presenters every day, I think they might be using the Sky Sports presenters on Sky news to promote Sky Sports News. That's just a guess but theres no real other reason for doing so.

From the Independent on Sunday's "Feral Beast" media diary column

Sky presenter Kay Burley put in an appearance at the launch of Quentin Letts's book Letts Rip!, having shamelessly demanded an invitation live on air. Alas, she didn't stay long enough to get even with another guest, Labour MP Chris Bryant. A clip of her interviewing him has become a YouTube hit after he called her "a bit dim" on air. Now he claims he didn't know it was Burley he was talking to: "I had no idea," he told me. "She was just a voice in my ear. I couldn't see her, I could only hear these stupid questions."

...........and had he been able to see that it was Kay he was talking to, he of course would not have made those "dim" comments and of course would not have rendered the questions as "stupid".

I think he is a bit dim himself for trying to pass that off as an excuse.

Surely he would have known it was Kay Burley - from the voice, and from the Sky team. Kay is hardly a new presenter, the politicians know her well.

Yeah - but she's hardly that famous in the wider world (my mum wouldn't recognise her) - and if you have heard the quality of some talkback circuits you'd struggle to work out the gender of your interviewer.

Yes - if he had thought about it, he might have realised, but as an MP you may have more interesting things to think about than the Sky (or for that matter BBC) News channel's presenter rotas...

Daniel, I don't know who she (Lucy Cotter) is. But I watched a complete edition of Sky World News a few days ago for the first time ever. Lukwesa Burak (forgive if I have the spelling wrong) is an excellent presenter. I was highly impressed. She would also make a great relief presenter.

Completely agree with that, Lukwesa is superb. A bright future I suspect.

Lucy Cotter is entertainment correspondent for london tonight and a relief presenter , last year Lukweza did some shifts on sunrise and like BBC World and JPEG have said is a excellent presenter and I think will go on to big things. I think saturday live could be a good opening for her.
