......I will be sad to see Jeremy Thompson leaving Sky News after so many years at the "helm". I recall his many years as a BBC Correspondent, covering the Yorkshire Ripper story for many years, before leaving the BBC and moving to ITN.
It was during the ITN days that I had the misfortune (in 1989/1990, I think) of almost being flattened by JT at Dublin Airport. He was there covering the arrival of Mrs. Thatcher for talks with the Irish Government. Standing around the baggage areas (in the days before mobile phones were commonplace), JT received verbal information that Maggie was in fact entering the terminal from another location. Turned on his heels, cameraman in tow, and slammed right into yours truly.....
I'm probably one of the few (if not the only) TV Forumer who can say has had body contact with the great Jeremy!
I do hope Sky gives him a decent send-off.
All is not lost. I know she's not everyone's cup of tea, but I'm glad Ms. Burley will be inheriting the 5pm and 6pm prime slots.
I've just removed several posts after making it perfectly clear the conversation should stop. I will not have any hesitation banning people if it continues - I don't care if you have to find somewhere else to discuss the merits of who's on when.
Kay Burley is in the US to cover the first Presidential Debate in New York State.
If I'm correct, I think Colin Brazier did 11-2 today and Sarah Hewson 2-5 (with Kay in America) as they start tinkering with the schedule up to the launch of the new Sunrise and studio in October.
