Live at 5 has been around for almost as long as the channel itself - but do they still use the name on air? I haven't watched in ages and see that it's just called 'Sky News with Jeremy Thompson' on the schedule.

I've always actually thought that 5pm is an odd time for a flagship (which is what it used to be, at least) bulletin. I've never quite been able to figure out who's watching at that time of day - lots of news consumers are travelling at that time rather than watching the telly.

Live at Five has been around since the beginning of Sky News. In those days there was no BBC news channel and it was the only place to go for a UK news bulletin, before the six o'clocks on BBC/ITV.

Many workers are home by five.

Sorry if I've missed this, but where does that leave Sarah Hewson then? And will Kay be presenting five days a week, or will someone else be scheduled to present one day a week?

Edit: just spotted in the release that Sarah is doing Kay's slot on Fridays.

Looks like a pretty balanced schedule, shame that Live at Five trademark is practically gone with Jeremy. The only replacement I would have made is perhaps using Gamal Fahnbulleh (or Robert Nisbet) instead of Sophy Ridge, not a fan of her.

Looking like a fine schedule. Delighted that the Colin and Jayne partnership will continue and we'll even have an additional hour of them on air.

In response to the above about Sarah Hewson - I noticed on air last night that she looks to be pregnant so I imagine she may be on maternity leave when the new schedule kicks in.

Happy to see a 5-8 slot on Saturday and Sunday. I always felt it was strange to have someone doing two hours from 5-7 and then the presenter after had to do five hours from 7-12. Good to see that they have rectified this. However, I feel that the weekend lineup is slightly higgeldy piggeldy for want of a better term with presenters doing different times on different days.

Looks good though and excited for what's to come.

Tasteless speculation that's quite frankly none of your business.

So has Jeremy been dropped all together? I thought he was leaving at the end of the year? Has he now left?

As the press release at the time of his retirement announcement said, his curtain call will be anchoring the elections from America. He's going to be out there for quite a long time in the lead-up, so is banking some time off.

I was simply trying to clear up speculation about her future given she is not mentioned at all in the press release and is quite clearly pregnant as anybody who watches SNT can see.

Umm, yes, she was mentioned. And it's still none of your business.

Of course it's none of my business, it's hardly an intrusion to report about something I've seen on the telly - there's nothing confidential or private about what I saw with my own two eyes. Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing what's in store with an exciting new lineup and change of studio ahead.
