It's not about being overdramatic, it's laying out the bare facts:
-Martin Stanford (30 years)
-Mark Longhurst (20 years)
-Andrew Wilson (20 years)
-Lorna Dunkley (12 years)
-Samantha Simmonds (12 years)

That is almost 100 years of presenter experience Sky has lost over the last couple of months. I would estimate that they have replaced this with little more than 10 years presenting experience

Add there Paula Middlehurst with 20 years and we're well over the mark. Hannah Vaughan Jones and Philippa Hall also left the channel in the last year.

However, I do like the correspondents they are trying for the roles of presenters. Let's remember that Jeremy Thompson, Andrew Wilson, Colin Brazier, Jayne Secker, Sarah Hewson all started as correspondents, so I think Jonathan Samuels and Robert Nisbet have a good potential. Niall Paterson and Gamal Fahnbulleh already seem as a permanent fixture in presenters line-up.

It's worth remembering Jonathan Samuels spent many years presenting BBC Look East's Close Up (as it was once called) from Cambridge in the late 90s/early 00s before he joined Sky, so he does have a background as an anchor. I've always wondered how long it would be before they used him in that role.

Also wasn't it around 2004 when Anna Jones moved from BBC News 24 to Sky News? I seem to recall it was pretty much the same time Simon McCoy did the reverse.

But there's a huge difference between a 6/7-minute, largely prepared and scripted, opt-out and presenting live news for up to six hours...

To be fair to Jonathan, I have watched many of his shifts recently and I think he's been the best of the new presenters. I feel that out of the new presenters taken on by Sky and the existing correspondents being used as presenters Jonathan has really excelled and has the potential to become a permanent fixture.

Think it was Summer 2005 when Anna Jones moved to Sky (Simon went to BBC in early 2004).

Wow Divya left Meridian?! She must of been there 15 years at least.

It was Richard Suchets last shift on SkyNews last night. Sad to see yet another great journalist leave the channel.

This is some cull!!

Just curious who will replace Longhurst and Andrew Wilson on the weekend shifts? Whether Sky will promote from within or outside is unknown.

Holmes replacement already announced as SJM.
