Putting Anna Botting on Sunrise (alongside Eamonn) would be a waste of her talents. And I am not sure that Jeremy Thompson on Afternoon Live is a good idea either, as it involves too much prancing around the studio. Jeremy Thompson is an anchorman through and through. He needs to be behind a desk or else out in the plains dodging rapier missiles.

Live at Five or News at Ten is where JT belongs, IMO. Although Colin Brazier on News at Ten is also not a bad idea.

Altogether now (in a musical voice like Julie Andrews): " How do you solve a problem like Kay Burley ?"

I agree, Sunrise doesn't need changing because it is the Eamonn Holmes show and putting another high-class, top presenter alongside would complicate it, and I doubt the chemistry would be there. And Jeremy is definitely not an Afternoon Live presenter, he is a Live at Five or News at Ten anchorman, as BBC World points out.

What was Kay Burley like on the old Lunchtime Live programme?

I agree hes an anchorman and is suited to that time , why not put him there for example you could change the format so it accomadates his style and as anchorman he can improvize for breaking news a lot better and a lot of breaking news comes during that period , many politicians will be avalible for interview and he can bring live coverage of key events from the commons .

And at this late stage in his carear it can be a new project for him and also it would get ratings up and beat the bbc if dermot who many people watch is on straight after for me theres nothing wrong with this new challenge.

What you don't seem to accept is that Live at Five is one of Skys flagship bulletins. By moving Jeremy off it, Sky would effectively be demoting their main anchor.

You seem to think that by moving Jeremy to afternoons that he'll be able to generate viewers. However, the daytime slots have relatively few viewers because people simply can't watch it as they're at work etc. If I were Sky, then surely I would want my main anchor to be watched by as many people as possible and provide an alternative to the main broadcasts on the other channels, not shunted to the afternoon slot.

And are you being serious when you say there's no problem with the newswheels?!

I accept it s one of skys flagship bulletins and it would be a demotion by moving him off it and theres lots of housewives , parents bringing children from school , teachers , part time workers, people who work from home, hotels , hospitals that would all catch part fo that timeslot also Dermot is a bigger name in news broadcastng and lots of peopel including myself don't get to see his show in his current time slot so imagine the viewers hed get and I don't think jeremy would mind to much anyway .

I agree that JT is not suited for Afternoon Live slot when a lot of news breaks, bit's the busiest part of the day and Kay does a great job there. JT is the flagship news bulletin type of an authoritative anchor who announces the reports and does good interviews while sitting behind a desk.

Well after weighing up what fellow members have said I have come to agree that JT is not suited to afternoon live and i was wrong to suggest putting him there however I would move him to the 8-10 slot were NSW is not popular so he could host a complete new show , Martin stanford could move to afternoon today and the rest of the schedule I suggested before could remain.

But what's wrong with Jeremy, Sky's most experienced and most popular, news anchor staying on Live at Five?

Nothing.

It's a Sunday (the day of rest) and we were all just indulging one of our newer members, who normally gets a hard time here on the boards.

Im thinking from a strategy point of view Dermot - presented bbc breakfatst, itv evening news , c4 news and egg heads people know him from everywhere and he is well liked now normally he is on from 10-1 were not a lot of people will catch him from 5-7 people will start to come home and one of the first things they watch is news everywhere is going Digital meaning everyone can watch Sky News so they can provide serious rivalship for the bbc and itv then at 7-10 were theres no mainstream programmes on and don't like NSW and normally watch BBC News they can watch JT.
