Will the last person leaving please turn out the lights....
Really concerned for the future of Sky News, it is already a shadow of its former self so what it will be like now with all these departures is anyone's guess.
I just hope that they are laying foundations to breath some fresh air into it with the studio move apparently round the corner. We can live in hope.

Was about to post the same thing, especially when only 10 years ago Sky News had 3 presenters achoring, plus a dedicated sports presenter, Michael Wilson at the stock exchange and weather presenter, all in one shift.
I loved that era of Sky News Today and shows how once upon a time they made great use of the studio-space. I think it was a bit ahead of its time, sadly.

Let's not be overdramatic here. Do bear in mind that Sky News still has long-serving presenters including Eamonn Holmes, Dermot Murnaghan, Stephen Dixon, Gillian Joseph, Jeremy Thompson, Anna Botting, Colin Brazier, Kay Burley and Anna Jones to name but a few.
Also, newer presenters also have a wealth of experience. Take Niall Paterson, a long-serving correspondent. Another example (and there are several) would be Robert Nisbet. He remains a senior political correspondent as well as taking turns in the anchor chair, and he was previously our Europe correspondent.

Now now, let's not piddle on their chips too much. After all, they know far more than we do about what's really...
*slaps self back to reality*
Tell ya what, gang, just wait to see how it all shakes out - there'll be bits/people you like and bits/people you don't so much - just like any other channel. Let's not start playing violins on the deck of the Titanic - I know I'm not!

It's not about being overdramatic, it's laying out the bare facts:
-Martin Stanford (30 years)
-Mark Longhurst (20 years)
-Andrew Wilson (20 years)
-Lorna Dunkley (12 years)
-Samantha Simmonds (12 years)
That is almost 100 years of presenter experience Sky has lost over the last couple of months. I would estimate that they have replaced this with little more than 10 years presenting experience.
Business Updates have been abolished.
The Gherkin studio has been axed.
Despite the position being advertised Jonathan Samuels was never replaced in his role as Australia Correspondent.
Mike McCarthy and David Crabtree - two of Sky's most experienced reporters gone from the channel.
I am not going to make comparisons with the Titanic but the simple facts must be very concerning for employees at Sky...

As long as the channel doesn't return to the pomp of the 2005 revamp with three presenter led bulletins and appointment to view nonsense, it should be fine.
My real concern isn't with presenter redundancies, but with an increase of cheap filler. The Pledge is dumbed down nonsense, which has more of a natural home on Channel 5 than a rolling news channel.
Not all filler is bad mind, Week in Review and Swipe, along with the Press Preview repeats compliment the rolling news output.
