Sky was never the same after they sacked Ginny, it all went downhill from then on. Very Happy Cool

I'm sorry, but this clip amongst other gaffs destroyed her career at Sky News.

Yes but she did get better, that was one of her first bulletins. Laughing I know many didn't like Ginny but the way she was sacked in the middle of the week was disgusting. Both her and Guliette. At least Guliette found a better home at BBC World, poor Ginny only did that Crime watch stuff and a few documentaries.

Sky should go back to their golden era - double anchored shows, news on the hour, no special names and presenters, this is no CNN or FOX.

Under the current management I don't see double-headed presentation returning but I think there is certainly an argument for a simpler schedule with just 'Sky News On The Hour' bulletins. There is too many different formats at the moment, none of which work particularly well (perhaps with the exception of 'Sunrise').

I'll never understand the thinking behind having the 'Live Desk' at 9 and 1, why not just 9 to 11? As far as NSW is concerned, a 30 minute round up rather than 15 would be so much better. I know some people dismiss schedule discussions but it is an issue for Sky News, there is just no fluency, no freshness with the current scheduling. They need to try and recreate the 'Sky News feel' of old.

But when it *was* just 'News on the Hour' all day, people complained that they needed to add variety to the schedule. They can't win!

I think the schedule is fine as it it.

Fair point, perhaps they just need to strike a balance in between? I think the current schedule would be an awful lot better if it wasn't for NSW.

Yes,a nice double headed evening show is what they need but of course that's the opposite of what they want which is less costs.

I find the current Live Desk slots work well since they break up the main presenter/summary presenter format used for the rest of daytime. In terms of structure The Live Desk is quite similar to Sky News on the Hour so it's nice not to have to wait until 5pm for a more traditional bulletin

It shouldn't be dismissed at the moment. As I mentioned earlier the Sky News Panel survey very strongly indicated schedule changes were being considered

I think the easiest way to improve the schedule is to turn NSW into Sky News on the Hour, it's hardly expensive because they wouldn't need to interview people, just have a presenter reading the bulletins and having actual reports rather than a brief summary of about 5 stories. It could be similar to the Live Desk, just at the newsdesk rather than the island.

I also cannot believe they would allow Martin Stanford to just stand around reading off an autocue for 2-3 hours each night, it's a waste of a talented and well-respected presenter.

Putting Anna Botting on Sunrise (alongside Eamonn) would be a waste of her talents. And I am not sure that Jeremy Thompson on Afternoon Live is a good idea either, as it involves too much prancing around the studio. Jeremy Thompson is an anchorman through and through. He needs to be behind a desk or else out in the plains dodging rapier missiles.

Live at Five or News at Ten is where JT belongs, IMO. Although Colin Brazier on News at Ten is also not a bad idea.

Altogether now (in a musical voice like Julie Andrews): " How do you solve a problem like Kay Burley ?"

I think he could do well on the show and who says he has to prance around it could change format he could make the show a massive success sercuring exclusives , talking to politicians , bring coverage of the days breaking news bringing his excellence to a whole new audience .

And how would It be a waste of Anna's talents a co-presenter on one of skys flagship programmes ?

I agree, Sunrise doesn't need changing because it is the Eamonn Holmes show and putting another high-class, top presenter alongside would complicate it, and I doubt the chemistry would be there. And Jeremy is definitely not an Afternoon Live presenter, he is a Live at Five or News at Ten anchorman, as BBC World points out.

What was Kay Burley like on the old Lunchtime Live programme?
