Well this was a cringe interview. Very Burley-esque.

FFS, that was astonishingly poor from start to finish.

The worst part is, Sky uploaded this clip themselves. They knew precisely what would happen when they did that in this day and age of social media and how fast these things can spread, because no sane person could possibly think that was a remotely credible interview. And so no doubt they'll be loving the fact that Eamonn Holmes is the top trend on social media and has been all day, regardless of what's being said about him or the broadcast.

I'm more sad for the few good journalists left at Sky News than anything else when these reputation sapping incidents occur, as they do on a very frequent basis. But it's quite clear that the likes of Holmes and Burley aren't entirely at fault - as terrible as they are at their jobs - no, no, it's apparent now that behind the scenes this style of interview is actively encouraged by senior management, as a way of pushing people's buttons and getting noticed.

That a once good news channel would stoop as low as this is massively disappointing, albeit not remotely surprisingly when you consider Murdoch and his ethics. I myself have come to the conclusion that Sky News is only marginally less offensive than The Sun nowadays. And I wouldn't wipe my arse with that sorry excuse for a paper, so...

I often think Kay Burley isn't as bad as a lot of people say, she asks the tough questions people want ot hear the answers to, and whether you love it or hate it the fact is she doesn't allow people to bully her or use cathphrases or cliches and I actually like that about her.

I've also never been one to think that Sky News is biased towards the Tories in the past. However this interview is the first time where I've ever questioned that for many years,. I've often stood up for Sky when some of the claims of bias have been crazy, but I'm disappointed if this is the sign of things to come.

It appears that Sky News are going for clickbait clips rather than providing a level headed interview in this case.

If the News Channel goes online only, leaving Sky as the only linear domestic news channel, then I really don't like where it's going editorially. It shouldn't be the Fox News of the UK.

Eamonn stuck in Belfast and Sunrise presented solo today with Sarah Jane.
The papers review was joined by Sport's Jackie though

Days away from the new permanent overnight anchor taking her position at Sky News. And she's an excellent presenter. Wishing Kimberley all the very best! X

That's a big mistake by Stephen Dixon/

Coming back from a break

Stephen: "It's not time to go home yet is it Gillian"

Gillian: "No but we will be preparing to go live to the Cenotaph as Britain pays tribute to it's war dead" (Dixon at this points realises what a mistake he made)

Went on for a bit longer than that with Stephen trying to digging himself out a hole and digging himself deeper, didn't think it was very appropriate bearing in mind the day.

If it was Kay Burley things would have hit meltdown.

I count Stephen as both a colleague and friend, and can say with 100% certainty that he wouldn't have intended any disrespect - it's just not in his make-up as a human being.

Still, it could be worse... on one occasion, he came back from a break and introduced a tech-themed item with the words: "Now... we all like to have a play with our bits and pieces, don't we?" To her enormous credit, Gillian (just) managed to avoid a full-blown fit of giggles!

Oh I know he wouldn't have meant any disrespect for sure, but of all days, today was not the best day to play a joke like that.

It looked a tad uncomfortable for both of them which I think he realised when he tried to explain it, although that didn't come out the best either.

If it was Kay Burley it'd be all over twitter by now - That's not a dig at Stephen, more so the harsh way Kay is treated compared to others.
