As you may know, Paul is now a senior news editor in an off-air capacity, and I can tell you that in situations like this, there isn't the time to stop and think about whose specific-but-not-necesarily-obvious skillset is what - it's just (quite rightly) assumed that you'll generally know how to do your job well.
In the first instance yes, but surely when the news has properly broke and nearly the entire nation, or world, knows, reporters with better skillsets will be sent to relive whoever the duty reporters are?
That is true.
Interesting that Paul Harrison acted as a translator from french to english at Ian Woods' side and furthermore Joey Jones also appeared to speak french with the citizens there, probably the reason why he was sent to France.

Hasn't she been part of the Sky News Weather team for a while now, or at least freelancing with them for a while? I'm sure she did Sky News and Five News weather previously when Sky ran it.
It will doubtless interest TVF-ers to learn that Kirsty McCabe (ex-BBC/GMTV) is filling in presenting the weather on Sky News this morning.

Kirsty has certainly covered for Sian Welby along with Clare Nasir since ITN took over the 5 News contract. During the Sky era, it'd be the duty presenter on Sunrise who'd cover.

Abrupt End To Sky News Chuka Umunna Interview
To be fair Dermot completely ambushed him there and didn't come across well at all.

Indeed. There is a difference between BBC-style tough-but-fair interrogation and Fox News-style opinionated posturing. This exchange reminded me of Fox News.

Reminded me of the Kay Burley vs Chris Bryant incidents (and the Adam Bolton vs Alistair Campbell election incident).

LOL. Seems very Fox News to me. Not a good end to an interview at all.

Quite interesting that in the Bryant/Burley exchange, the shoe was on the other foot - Bryant was referring to a report that Burley was ignorant of. However she did notably deliberately steer the report towards an area which Bryant had already dismissed as irrelevant. It's something that Graham Linehan has been complaining about on Twitter a lot and which is not just the tactics of Sky - inviting someone on to do an interview obstensibly about one subject and then ambushing them with another which they haven't prepared for. It's like going to the doctor about an ingrown toenail and then just after the medicine has been prescribed saying "oh by the way what about my chest pains?". It's shoddy, sensationalist crap from shoddy, sensationalist journos. Sky News is a Rupert Murdoch operation. Murdoch wants a Tory / UKIP government. Murnaghan is going to toe the party line, end of.
