Sounds like a bit of damage limitation going on. He's getting a mauling for his remarks on Yahoo. If his comments have been twisted by the press, he should have anticipated that and not started mouthing off about it to all and sundry.
I don't believe that he truly does embrace the competition - otherwise he wouldn't have been making snide remarks about Daybreak on his Twitter page for days.
Me thinks it is a case of sour grapes. It's also notable that
Sunrise with Mark Longhurst
continues to beat weekday Sunrise on a regular basis despite NO promotion for it from Sky and less viewers available pre-9am compared to a workday.
If he still does This Morning covers with Ruth (which I remember he certainly did before Holly joined, when I last watched it) it will definitely affect his relationship with ITV management.

They came very close to not renewing their contracts last time they were up according to various media reports at the time, so he wants to watch it really.
I've never rated Eamonn. Always preferred Sunrise when Chris Roberts used to cover in the summer. Jolly nice chap who just got on with the job without the ego and hot air that ooze out of the screen when Mr. Holmes is in the chair.

Oh give up this thing you got about Chris Roberts. Face it hes was a crap presenter, no wonder why Sky chose to give the boot to him. If I was Sky, I certainly wouldn't want him as a presenter who blatantly over doing the comments on technical issues. Oh, and by the way, Sunrise with Mr Holmes is doing quite well in the ratings? Something that Chris Roberts would have never bought to Sunrise.
And, yes Roberts did get on with the job, but that was about it, nothing special, and never will be.

I think he would if he'd been given half a chance. Eamonn Holmes has been enjoying a massive ad campaign on Sky TV for weeks and the programme is still only logging one or two entries in Sky News' top 10, with more entries for weekend Sunrise that doesn't receive promotion at all.
I'm not sure anyone tunes into Sky News because of who's presenting. The BBC News Channel is full of unknowns but it receives higher viewers. The vast majority only turn to Sky News for breaking news, otherwise, they stick with the radio or the tradional bulletins. I'm not sure why Sky pays so much for high profile presenters - particularly given that they seem to be always off.
