I wonder Phillipa Tomsom could be her maternity leave cover? Since she Doesn't really have a regular role at Sky News and could explain why she left Tyne Tees. I mean she might have just left to be a relief, but if she was promised a maternity leave role then it would have more appeal!

I can see Philippa moving to Boulton & Co with Anna Jones for Anna Botting.

However I'd like to see Mark Longhurst cover for Anna during the week with Anna J at weekends.

There has to be a rejig anyway when Anna Botting and Sarah Hewson are on maternity leave.

I'd quite like to see Anna Jones cover Anna Botting on the late/press preview times. She's an excellent presenter and would fit there very well indeed.

She can virtually present any programme! She has presented Sky news at 10, done both roles on Bolton & Co. and presented Jeff Randall Live. To think only a couple of years ago she was demoted to business presenter.

She has been on virtually any programme. The only presenter* role I've not seen her do is Sunrise.

* I don't count overnights or NSW as a presenter role as it's news-reading with nothing else.

She used to be the main presenter of NSW when Sky moved to single headed presentation, and has been on Sunrise within the past fortnight

There are a lot of people who are not regular's at Sky News to be fair though Anna Jones, Jayne Secker and Samantha Simmonds are basically relief presenters that can present across the whole stable of programmes, sometimes presenting different shifts for three or four days in a row.

They normally appear a lot as they are always the first pick for presenting shifts as cover as they are the ones who are able to actually present, conduct interviews, handle breaking news, deal with guests and do paper reviews etc. If they can't drag one of the above in they'll simply get someone to work an extra day, or rotate things about to move someone senior to such shift and then bring in a back up newscaster on the least demanding shift.

I think Jayne Secker is going to be almost certainly going to be on Boulton & Co. She's filled in there a large number of times in the past few months. I can't see Philippa getting that shift. She's been kept off the presenting shifts ever since she joined and has just been doing newsreading.

Anna Jones is wasted on a newsreading shift, such as NSW which she was on before I read in the other post. That shift should be reserved for a newsreader as it's a pretty short shift and pretty simple.

Lisa Knights is on the midnight news. Nothing strange about that.

However she did the sport for Sunrise and the 9am-10am shift this morning!

Toby Sadler was on at 4:30, I don't know when he started though

Paula Middlehurst would be the excellent alternative for Anna Botting. She is so underused and used to present Sky News at Ten very often a few years ago.

Just to clarify she did the morning sport bulletins? Which is, in my memory, from 6am-11am?

She was also a great loss to the BBC when she left News 24.

Someone also mentioned Paula Middlehurst, I always thought her availability was for freelance cover over the weekend?

Back in 2008 Paula used to present lots of sky news at ten shifts during weekdays and she was superb! Why not use her, she is a very familiar face at sky news for more than a decade now!

Yes, I know that, she was also a fantastic presenter from my earliest memories of Sky News.
