There might be crowds of boxing journalists seen in the background later as the Joshua v Klitschko pre-fight press conference will take place in the middle of Sky Central this afternoon, pretty much just under the glass box.

Sky Sports News using some balcony positions that I'm sure some people on here wouldn't mind seeing on Sky News.

Unfortunately, Sky News is back using Sky News Centre (the old set) just now.

Unfortunately... Yes, how dare we attempt to continue a three-hour live broadcast with the world's sporting press directly under our main studio? Rolling Eyes

I think it's a fair observation - it is unfortunate that the arguably short sighted choice was made to put a news studio in such a position where other events in the building can disrupt broadcasts.

Perfectly reasonable to move out for the duration, but it does make the fitness for purpose of the glass box questionable, along with the other compromises it involves.

It's the first time it's happened in the six months it's been in use. Let's say it's twice a year - that isn't a big deal, and will seem like less of one when things are up-and-running at Sky Studios and people don't have a gripe because it's not the "old" set.

I'm more bothered that Sky News in effect became a massive plug for Sky Box Office for at least half of the 1400 bulletin than covering the election, considering there's a sports 'news' channel as well.

Just to clarify, I meant 'unfortunately' in the way that it would have been quite cool to see all the commotion in the background - although understandably highly unfeasible or even appropriate for a news channel. I have no qualms about which set they use. I just used '(old set)' so people who were unaware where the studios appear to be based are.

Duly acknowledged.

A post on Instagram suggests the sofa area of the old Sky News Centre set is being dismantled to make way for the Election set.

Wonder what "colour" it will be when finished

I note there are already some white elements creeping in

Owing to wheelchair access issues, whenever I've appeared on-screen, that's the set we've used.

Do you reckon I should brace myself for an invitation to present? Wink
