Current graphics are fine.

Just weird the disconnect between what they show on the big screen and full screen on TV.

They seem to be able to show animated and dynamic graphics in Vision on the broadcast, but the same graphics on the Big Screen seem like they are just slides like there is some technical limitation of the screen.

I know it's been said that the screen can take whatever is input into it, but I don't understand why they can show animated/dynamic graphics on TV but the big screen never shows them and is using slide show like static versions of the same graphics.

Imagine for a moment that it's a deliberate choice.

We shall see how it goes over the coming days and weeks, I assume they won't use the same set-up for the election, but then again I doubt they will use the Glass Box for that because honestly I think that it's not going to be suitable for such coverage, Sky News Center where they can have everything in one place will be a much better choice until the new studio is built.

I take it Sky News will NOT do a graphics refresh (due to lack of time and young age of current set) like they normally do for elections every five years. So will they keep the current set till 2022?

I think everybody else had already come to that conclusion. Also, we can't see into the future.

I would be surprised if they did keep it till 2022. I'm not sure what they did in the past. This was 20 years ago.

Ahh, I was reminiscing about that clip with my Cambridge 105 colleague Stefanie Callister only the other week. Wink

That name is a blast from the past. I remember that Stefanie had a short stint presenting BBC News 24 in about 2002-ish. Haven't seen her since then.

Have some of the TVs screens from the balcony behind the presenters disappeared. There only seems to be a group of 4 screens, could be wrong but sure there used to be more

I noticed only 6 were still there last weekend. there did used to be more

I hope they will use the Sky News Centre 1 final time for the general election night coverage. its far superior to the box for a big event like this.

Can anyone share what the plans are for the local elections coverage? Is Adam Boulton going to be in the studio or at a count?

You'd think it will have to be, the huge disadvantage to the Glass Box is that it's just one big box with a lot of space and a desk.

When many people are coming and going and there needs to be various desks and positions for people Like Michael Thrasher to work on stuff in the background, in the current studios they have lots of desks and work areas right next to the area that is being broadcast from, that's not the case with the glass box, sure, they still have some facilities near in the building of the glass box, but nothing like the Sky News Center with everything at hand right next to them.

Just to confirm, I can also see the glitches on the lower thirds on Sky News HD through Virgin Media.

Seeing them today myself as well on the stream.

Longer term I suspect on election night the atrium outside the studio could be put to use to in a similar way to what ITN used to do.
