I know it's not 'presentation' related - but why can't Sky News ever keep their EPG up to date?

The name of the presenter is so often wrong, why don't they just keep it generic?

And right now in what should be Sky News with Niall Paterson - some random programme about Trump from Washington. No graphics have appeared throughout so no idea if its live or what it's called - only found out by going back on YouTube Live.

However the issue in this case isn't the light levels per se, it's the fact that the box is being lit from all sides (it isn't in direct sunlight as far as I can see) but it does suffer heavily from ambient spill coming in from three directions.

Are there directional lights pointing into the box, around it or is it just the regular type of business lobby lighting where there's nothing special. Could they alleviate some of the ambient spill over using some sort of scrims up top?

I'll agree that not signalling a repeat of the midnight programme is probably an oversight, but conveying presenter rota changes to TX on an ad hoc basis (a far more complicated process than one might imagine) merely because there's somebody else in the chair is more than busy producers of rolling news have time to do. It's still Niall's slot, so his place on the EPG remains intact.

I think it's that the box is in a daylit atrium, where natural daylight is (understandably) coming in from lots of different directions. So direct sunlight isn't the problem, but ambient 'bounce' from all directions is. This is great design architecturally, and will make the space pleasant, but for TV, where you want a lot more control, it's not so great. TV lighting is all about ensuring light only goes where you want it, and is about contrast a lot of the time. High levels of ambience reduce the contrast...

Scrims, Rosco polarisers and flags are all great for controlling direct sunlight. Far less good for non-directional ambient light.

I noticed they were repeating the midnight hour throughout the night and this morning the newspaper guests are sat at the other side of the desk, Naz is doing the weather out of vision sat at the desk too - Is the big screen not working or getting moved to the new studio?

Why would Sky get a screen in the glass box which they would only get a couple of months use out of before having to dismantle and move it, affecting live broadcasts?

If they were only going to use the glass box temporarily then they could just hire a screen for the time they needed.

The overnight and weekend sunrise both come from the 'old' studio, so the screen in question has nothing to do with the glass box...

Niall proving that you can still have gravitas and fun on Sky News. There was also a bit of fun on Sunrise this morning where Stephen, Isabel and Nazaneen boogied to We are Family by Sister Sledge after one of the sisters passed away.

It's an honour to have someone with his comic timing perform a gag I've written.

We did another one for the 11:30 as well:

"The bosses have told me I'm not allowed to do any more Adele puns... Well, never mind... they'll find someone like me... after the break."
