I thought the new studio was at Sky Studios, the same building as Sky Sports News?

It is. Wires crossed.

Thanks, I can't wait to see how this one looks. I'm optimistic that they can find a balance in styles. The new shard studio is mostly white, but that looks great.

Claudia and Tom are my favorite of the new generation presenters.

Can't help but wonder if some of the commenters here actually watch Sky News. To call the studio flashy is ridiculous - it's the very opposite of that.

I wasn't sure about the glass box at first, but on evenings and weekends the old studio looks very dated now. The new studio maybe isn't quite right yet - it has a bit of a temporary feel, as if there's a big new look around the corner (which I doubt there is). It looks fantastic for Sophy Ridge on Sunday.

Some of the comments about presenters are a bit mean spirited too. Kimberley seems pretty good to me. Sophy and Claudia-Liza co-presented the other afternoon and were brilliant.

It feels like a completely different channel to a year or so ago, which is probably why there is such a range of opinion, but they were all changes that needed to be made.

I think that Claudia-Liza and Kimberley and Sam Naz are fine as presenters, but the big issue with them is they are not being used as presenters at the moment in a lot of cases.

Too often they are appearing in the role of an anchor that is expected to conduct interviews and breaking news on their own or taking key slots such as Kay's old slot or JT's old slot where they are found wanting.

The best way of using them is at weekends, overnights, or the second presenter in a duo where it is less about interviews and less chance of breaking news and more about news-reading.

"Less chance of breaking news".....what a ridiculous thing to say. Because we all know that a terrorist attack or a major death waits for Kay Burley or JT to be on a shift. Breaking News does not legislate for who might be on air.

Not sure what your issue is here. They rescheduled the daytime output. When all the staff are in and on their regular slots, those three you mentioned are used as overnight presenters - in fact it is Kimberley's main job. But guess what? People take holidays, and are taken ill, therefore gaps need to be filled.

There is less breaking news at weekends than during the week. That is not just a myth it's the truth. Of course it doesn't stop people dying or terrorism attacks, but there are whole categories of potential breaking news that do not occur at weekend, especially those related to politics, business and the economy etc.

That's my point - they allowed approx 10 experienced journalists who were all capable of being anchors go in a short space of time and they brought in about 3 young promising presenters. If they allowed eight to go and retained two of them, there would still be enough chances to blood young talent, whilst also ensuring that the key bulletins have proper cover, not people out of their depth struggling through interviews..

If we went by the TVF mantra of some members, Sophy Ridge would still be standing outside Downing Street instead of being the presenter of Sky's Sunday political show and one edition of Sky News Tonight per week along with cover for daytime presenters.

I'm not the first who thinks that some of the presenter moves have been bad (Sunrise Mon-Thurs), but the majority of the changes haven't been as apocalyptic as some have made it out to be.

We're still in a transitional phase where daytime pres is in the modern glass box and the rest from Sky Centre from the old Sky News set or Millbank. I'd like to see what happens once they move to their new studio before the channel is completely written off due to new younger presenters being inexperienced.

Forgive my ignorance, how/when will this second new Sky News studio on screen in the summer be on-screen schedule-wise compared to the glass box?

Agree with the below. The same member who seems to criticise those three newer presenters for their interviewing has been proved utterly wrong by Sophy who's had superb reviews for her interviews with the PM etc. Simple fix if you don't like people - switch off!

A 'source from the BBC' shares similar views to some forumers…

"Sky will do extremely well to get even 100,000 viewers," the source said. "It will no doubt be well produced. The new glass box and reception area backdrop are very disappointing visually but their big screen area is fantastic and I wish we at the BBC had invested in that kind of kit."
